Maybe it could be that the majority of people of a certain age do not like chest hair. There isn't a womens opinion of if a guy looks better with or without chest hair ya know.

Men are hairy! That's what we are! That's what's manly!
Sadly, that's not what's seen as attractive these days :/
Stupid fashion and shit.

On a related note: I went to a gallery the day before yesterday and looked at some paintings of Jesus, and it just hit me: He has no body hair at all. Not even in his armpits can you see a single strand of hair. What the hell?

I didn't have hair for a long time, it only recently started growing... not much one can do for it.

Sorry I cant control how my hair grows. It seems all my chest hair chose to grow on other parts of my body....

As to why hollywood/tv is doing it well that is the current sexy thing for guys. It will change in time afterall fashion is just one big circle.

I don't get it. Why is everyone freaking out over this? I thought that in general, people don't consider body hair attractive. This is why we make women shave their armpits and legs, no?

Is it just because most of the posters here are male and object to having to put effort into their appearance?

its aesthetically pleasing to the eye, most shirtles actors shave or whatever because they want to show muscle, in most cases at least, also its a recent trend in movies,

(holly S%&T DO NOT google "hairy guys in movies" without safe search ON, PASS THE BRAIN BLEACH)

the "chest hair" is more common on older movies here is an example

AHHHH! Why'd you warn me, I got curious!

I've had chest hair and have been able to grow a full beard since I was 15.

So let me tell you of my experinces to you bald people.

I have never ever had a g/f complain about it. Since I shampoo it, it actually turns out rather soft and nice to touch and women love that. They snuggle up to me and pet me, call me teddy bear and what not.

And yes, I do shampoo the hair on my body; Its silly not too. Its actually longer and fuller then the hair on the top of my balding head.

When it all comes down to it, to each their own. But first and foremost, clean yourself properly! :p

Well...I could see how some claim men look better without hairy chests, yet I would think that only applies if you are trying to show off your muscles, or a tattoo. On ordinary men without heavily defined muscles it just screams I am a little boy that still hasn't hit puberty. Also yes I have chest hair, also shaved it off for the hell of it 1 day, ugh, so yes I can comment on both sides. No worries though it was back with a vengeance in 2 weeks. Note there is a difference between shaved and trimmed body hair and trimming can be good.

Probably because it's not attractive.
Thanks, completely subjective opinion that has only been shared by a majority for the past twenty years.

My only problem with chest hair is that my man does not use conditioner on his, so it's scratchy, wiry, and rubs my nipples raw. Ouchie!!! I counteract this scratchy, wiry, painful problem by REFUSING to remove my bra. A sports bra is perfect for this method because there are two layers of cloth between me and hairy doom, and there are no hooks or fasteners for him to undo on the sly. He gets angry, but I have told him the problem. Is it really my fault he can't think up the solution on his own?
Regardless, I don't aesthetically mind body hair, not even the fur sweater, as long as it is kept well-trimmed (meaning I can't braid it). If he kept it washed and soft (well-conditioned), I might not even care if he trimmed. I even get the 3-in-1 shampoo (citrus scented) for this purpose. Sadly, I am the only one who uses the 3-in-1 stuff. :(

My solution to the balding problem with masses of body hair? Just have the doctor take hair from your chest/back/legs and implant it in your scalp. Not only will the hair from the original site grow back in time, but you won't have to thin the rest of the hair on your head to cover your poor, cold scalp. ;)
