This is breaking news, just happened less then 20 minutes ago. A shooting has taken place in a Texas College. No reports of deaths yet but numerous injuries are confirmed.

This is just staggering. How a nation can tolerate this bullshit with such an obvious reason is mindboggling.
A "mass shooting" with 3 people injured, no deaths, and the shooters illegally possessing handguns and committing the shooting in a gun-free zone. I'm not sure whose case you're helping here buddy.

Based on the impending gun laws making banning the sale of assault weapons, I now want to buy as many as I can and then sell them when they aren't made/sold anymore and let the massive profits ensue.

Mass Shooting? How about two retards trying to kill each other with illegal handguns and hitting a bystander? This is hardly worthy of national news.
Pretty much this. It's funny that people latched on to this as "OMG mass shooting in TEXAS" (least damaging "mass shooting" I've ever heard of) and nobody has mentioned that 17 people were shot, and 2 were killed in Chicago over the weekend, the city competing with New York for the most strict gun control in the country.

The thing i notice about these shootings are they are not criminal related.....as in gang crime, robbery or a career criminal. Its some normal person who wakes up one morning and decides to shoot up a school. How can an argument end up in a shooting....why were they even carrying guns in the first place?

Mass shooting! Ban the guns! Not our guns! It was the vidyo gaems! Ban the games! Wait a second, everyone calm the fuck down.

If the last massacre was anything to go by, that's my prediction of the aftermath.

Interesting. The more they talk about gun control, the more shootings there are.
It's because it's the big topic of the moment; normally this stuff wouldn't be reported by anyone but local news. Soon as the sensationalist reporting on the topic stops giving them ratings they'll start reporting on something else like it's an epidemic; my money is that it will be how kids are huffing sawdust or something stupidly fake like that.

Your title is misleading OP, this wasn't a mass shooting, 2 people were injured in the crossfire between two dip-shits having a showdown. (how it found it's way to a university campus is the story I'd like to hear)

That'd certainly be one of them.

Among many reasons. Poor attention to mental health (which isn't just a problem for america), the availability of guns, the everything or nothing, first or last attitude of america that is both a godsend and a pretty effective method of trapping people in a corner.

But we all know what will be blamed. Videogames. Always fucking videogames. I understand the urge to find something to blame that isn't as difficult to deal with or less unpleasant to acknowledge, but seriously, why is it always us that gets the big "psycho" label, huh? Hell, I don't think the "stars" of jersey shore are exactly experts on conflict resolution, why are they never blamed?

Well...here's hoping that there continues to be no deaths confirmed for this one. Would be nice to have one of these things reach a not-so god awful conclusion.

Lets check if our media filter system is working.
Two people dead ----MASS SHOOTING
yep seems in order.
also remember that time when in Texas a guy tried to recreate the movie theater shooting but a man in the audience with a pistol saw him pull his gun and killed him before he got any rounds off? I don't really remember hearing much reporting about that.

This has to be one of the most misleading titles I've seen. Are you implying they happen often in Texas? I don't recall the last one to happen here.

And mass(ive)? Two people being injured qualifies as a "mass shooting" now?

For god's sake humanity, pull yourself together.

[edit/rant]
That goes for everyone having a go at the OP for saying "mass" shooting. Pull yourself together.
Like there is some sort of quota the gunman has to reach before "mass" can be put in the title.
Sure its over exaggerating, but embellishment should be the least of your worries when innocent people are being shot at on a weekly basis.

Here's a clue: we don't tolerate it. These things come out of nowhere, and short of turning the US into a police state, there's no way to preempt crazy people before they go on a rampage.

And before you say "LAWLZ, JUST BAN ALL GUNS, DURR HURR!!", I suppose we could do that, going through the monumental process of amending our constitution, incurring the massive costs of rounding up millions of firearms across the country (spoiler alert, we still don't get them all), likely imprisoning hundreds of thousands when they refuse to relinquish their private property, making our cities arguably less safe (now, no criminal has to worry about getting shot at when they break into peoples homes and businesses)-- even if you did all that YOU STILL WOULDN'T STOP MASS VIOLENCE BECAUSE YOU COULD JUST AS EASILY ACCOMPLISH THIS KIND OF SHIT WITH EXPLOSIVES, OR GASOLINE, OR LARGE VEHICLES, OR CHEMICAL POISONS, ETC, ETC.

I realize I'm being presumptuous about your position on this issue, but I've gotten so sick of these moronic gun control arguments it makes me want to shit diarrhea. Gun control, if it can solve anything, will not solve the problem of these random acts of mass violence. If you think it will, you are being dumb, and need to get your head on straight.

Considering that there have now been FOUR shootings at schools in TWO weeks I think that we can AT LEAST make the case for laws to prevent CHILDREN getting their hands on guns and using them in fights!
Still won't work. If their parents can own guns, and don't secure them properly, the kids could get the guns that way.

At some point, you just have to rely on people to be smart and do the responsible thing. The government can't do it all for us.

It's time to face facts: The USA's 2nd amendment was built for the world of the 1800's where guns were not made on assembly lines and the military was not as well equipped to defend the USA. Today times have changed dramatically and it's time to get rid of this amendment. All it is doing is encouraging crap like THIS!
Excuse me sir, the assembly line was created in the 1800s:
The Industrial Revolution in Western Europe and North America, but perhaps most especially in Great Britain and in New England, led to a proliferation of manufacturing and invention. Many industries, notably textiles, firearms, clocks and watches,[2] buttons, horse-drawn vehicles, railroad cars and locomotives, sewing machines, and bicycles, saw expeditious improvement in materials handling, machining, and assembly during the 19th century, although modern concepts such as industrial engineering and logistics had not yet been named.
And I'd also like to point out this amendment was made in the late 1700s.
Please fact check before going on rants.

Ah, the FOX News approach. "If you just stop talking about the uncomfortable truths that we don't want to address because they contradict our ideology, they'll all just go away."

Incidentally, I love how at the moment you posted this not a single thing was known about the shooter's motives. Yet you're comfortably ready to just assume they wanted to be a celebrity. Well done.
Uh...keyboard warrior...

1. I live in Canada.
2. I'm ridiculously liberal, to the point where I get attacked for it with clockwork regularity on these forums.
3. I'm pretty ardently anti-gun.

I know it's fashionable around these parts to just start flaming away the moment you see or hear something that you even MIGHT disagree with, but pick your targets a little more selectively next time, Don Quixote.

I bet it was all because of the cafeteria food. Obama should implement some kind of ban on cafeteria food before it gets out of hand!

I guess it is a good thing that it's just the media trying to whip people in to a frenzy, but also a bad thing because they are trying to do that. Silly media.

Well it's evident that they can't do it for themselves either... SOMEBODY has to step up to the plate...
Funny, people said the same thing for alcohol in the twenties. And not only did we get more murders and organized crime, more taxes had to be levied due to the loss of the county's biggest source of tax revenue.
