The thing i notice about these shootings are they are not criminal related.....as in gang crime, robbery or a career criminal. Its some normal person who wakes up one morning and decides to shoot up a school. How can an argument end up in a shooting....why were they even carrying guns in the first place?

It's because it's the big topic of the moment; normally this stuff wouldn't be reported by anyone but local news. Like there is some sort of quota the gunman has to reach before "mass" can be put in the title.
Sure its over exaggerating, but embellishment should be the least of your worries when innocent people are being shot at on a weekly basis.
