On October 4 1957, Sputnik I was launched. It was the first satellite ever launched. On February 1 1958, Explorer I was launched by the United States. The first from any NATO country. And finally, on March 28 1959, a mysterious satellite launched over Europe, dropped an atomic bomb in the Atlantic Ocean and flew back somewhere in Europe. NATO (The Allies) and the Warsaw Pact (The Soviet countries) deny creation of this "Shooting star" and now both sides are sending spies out to find who launched it, stop the launch and keep Earth from going into Global Thermonuclear War.
As serious as that sounds, and as much as this is a story is about espionage and spying, your characters can still be light-hearted, and still be a person to be feared in battle as well. The story is split into two groups:
NATO - (America, Canada, Spain, UK, Netherlands, France, Belgium, West Germany, Turkey, Ireland)
WRZAW - (Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, Czechoslovakia, The Baltic States, Hungary)
From one of those sides, choose your character sheet with the following information:

Bio - A paragraph telling your story. Who you are, and what you did beforehand.
In certain sections you where you are pitted against enemies, you will be given choices to proceed. If you have a certain skill you will get an ability to proceed quicker, or with better results. For Example:
Espionage - Get caught less, Sneak up to your enemies.
Medicine - Don't die if you mess up, if a fellow RP'er dies you can save them.
Fists - Brute Strength, knock out guys close and personally beat them.
Sharpshooter - Guns are your speciality. Get the enemy without knowing where exactly you are.
Mechanics - Need a quick getaway, or need to arrive somewhere quick? Your mechanic can fix something up to get you out to escape or cause havoc in a Tank driven by you.
Explosives - Knock knock. Forget the Front door when you have a handy stick of dynamite near you.
Charm - Don't fight! Talk! Your enemies will understand why you're eavesdropping somewhere!
Science - Create Weapons for your team, or technology/ medicine if you bundle this with Mechanics/ medicine.

Appearance: Alex is a 5'9 young man who frequently wears 19th century Paperboy hats, Sailor uniforms, Corduroy Pants, who has short red hair, declaring himself a bit of a recluse. Until the British military took a hold of him.
Why you are in the mission: The reason that his superiors chose him for this mission was his excellent mechanics and science skills, which could be used to know the difficult schematics for the satellite and how it works. He is also good at modifying guns to be used to better effect.

Bio: Alex was born in Brighton Beach, a few days before the Nazis stormed Poland. With the major naval base in his city, he became fascinated with the mechanics and schematics of the ships and vehicular hardware that the British military had. The officers stationed at Brighton saw something special with Alex and at the age of 17, he was hired to create Spitfire planes, and help create engines for the failed Vanguard Satellite projects. With the threat of a satellite that can launch nukes anywhere in Europe, Alex was called up by NATO to help stop the threat, and find who is responsible.
I will not be personally playing, for I will write the story that you will follow and change until you potentially reach the "Shooting Stars" Launch pad, which is basically the end. With two different sides, for the majority of the story, the chapters will revolve around one side, so when a chapter revolves around NATO (when a chapter heading has blue text), very rarely is there any KGB (red text) involvement. Depending on your characters skills, appearance and other traits, the story will change in that direction, with the end being, all characters die, WRZAW ending (If all NATO's die, vice a versa for NATO ending,) or United ending with WRZAW's and NATO's surviving.
When we get to the first fights this will be explained in greater detail. Just working that system out. This section will also contain how a character dies and how they can be saved.
I'm hoping for at least 6 people to join a side, so 12 people in total.
P.S: If a character on your side dies, and you can't save them, you sometimes have a chance in-story to call in for another replacement, where I shall PM someone that wanted to join before it locked, or freeze the RP until someone else joins.

Really? I thought the IRA we're founded in the 20's during their fight for independence. But nah, details like that won't really matter. Unless you we're saying you we're Mecha-Stalin or something of the likes, then I would shoot that idea down.

Appearance- Shoulder long, straight, brown blond hair. Tall, blue eyes. Usually considered pretty.
Why you are chosen for this mission by your superiors: Every kind of operative is needed for this situation, and the fact that she looks very much western, and speaks fluent English and Russian, as well as German, makes her extremely useful. She is a master of disguise, and is able to infiltrate almost any given organization. Her specialties include, but are not limited to: Assassination, Interrogation, Infiltration.

Bio - Felicia was born in Nazi-Germany, as the daughter of a communist. In 1941 her whole family was put in a camp, she lost both her mother and father. The whole event made her hate the Nazis. With the help of a prison guard she managed to escape, and lived hidden on the countryside on a farm for the rest of the war. As Germany was split in two, after the war, she found herself on the eastern side. This didn't bother her, in fact she had embraced her father's values. A high East german security agency official fell for her charm at one point and adopted her as a daughter when she was 13. She learned a lot, and when the official died she applied to be a Stasi operative.

If this fails, his ability with weapons should ensure he survives

Bio: Born to parents of different nationalities, espionage is in Alex's blood. His father was an agent of MI9 and his mother was part of the SOE. After being moved out of Poland to England when his parents began to fear the escalating tensions between Poland and Nazi Germany, his father began training him in the art of espionage. In 1949, at the age of 20, he was asked by the British government to deploy in to Soviet territory to gather intelligence. He spent the next five years undercover before being betrayed by one of his contacts and fleeing back to Britain. One of the best at what he does, he was called in to investigate Shooting Star.

Why you are chosen for this mission by your superiors: Can speak dutch/english/france and german, can stand his own man in a fist fight and know's explosive's which my be needed to disarm some of the payload of the satellite.

Bio: Born on June the 16th 1934, his father was a dock worker in the city of Rotterdam. After the fall of the Netherlands his father joined the resistance. On June the 16th the gestapo raided his house and his father was shoot dead while he was fleeing with Frederick. The bullet that killed his father went also trough his upper thigh. Ever since he dislikes the germans. When the Netherlands was liberated his mother fell in love with a canadian and married him. He went with him his mother and new father to Canada where he learned to speak english and france. After getting homesick, he whent back to the Netherlands when he was 18 and was drafted in to the armed force's there. His batalion was stationed in west germany and got in alotte of fights with the local armed force's there. In the armed force's he also fond a nack for handeling high explosive's. He learned to use simple handgrenade's, to dynamite to AT weapons. He was choicen by high command to land backup to the rest of the spies
