Hey there! Wanted to rec some games that are short and sweet and could beat in less than a work day (8 hours). So if you have a free evening, I suggest highly picking up some of these awesome games if you're a busy guy like me and enjoy what a game has to offer, with very little filler in-between.

Elechead - very fun puzzle platformer available on Steam. Think Chibi-Robo with puzzles involving electricity and using your head (literally) to solve the game's complex maze in this charming little game!

Devil May Cry series (except 2, 2 sucks) - An awesome series of games that all stand out individually from one another, but offer so much. You can finish the campaigns in roughly 6 hours (DMC one being the shortest at around 3 hours.)

Streets Of Rage 4 - Absolute 2d Beat em up PEAK. Short campaign, with different difficulty modes for extra replay ability , all while keeping the game's campaign length short to just <3 hours.

Metal Slug series - Absolutely awesome series of run n gun shooters that all take around an hour to beat. Truly fun stuff.

Gungrave GORE - an action-packed PS2 style arcade shooter where you just get put in the action. At around 6 hours, it's tons of evening fun!

I’m going to die if I don’t eat sushi! - Absolutely hilarious collectathon platformer where you have to eat all the sushi in order to not die. Very janky, low-budget fun but has tons of heart and soul (and some hard ass levels) to put it on the list! Takes about an hour to beat and is well worth it for just the comedy alone.

@ExtraWildGames, check these out:

  • Oneechanbara Z2: Chaos
  • Oneechanbara Origin - If you can, get the digital deluxe edition when it's on sale. That way you can get the game, and all of its DLC for cheap.
  • Evil West
  • Ninja Warriors Once Again/Ninja Saviors
  • Final Vendetta
  • The TakeOver
  • Shadow Warrior 3
  • Haunted Castle Revisited - Part of the Castlevania Dominus Collection.

Speaking of Castlevania, the Advance Collection games are possibly better if you're looking for something short but not old-school platformer short and not interested in 100% completion (which greatly extends the play time of each). Aria of Sorrow took me about 6 hours to complete, and based on playthroughs I've seen of the other two games, they're around the same length. And it also comes with Dracula X/Vampire's Kiss; if you like those old-school platformers, do not play Dracula X, it's not very good.

I can also recommend, in no particular order:
-Cuphead
-Pizza Tower
-420 BLAZE IT 2: GAME OF THE YEAR [I'm not joking, this is a real game and it's good]
-Katana Zero
-Halo 3 (as part of the Master Chief Collection, if you don't have an Xbox 360)

Well, since everyone here is probably familiar with Yahtzee, Return of the Obra Dinn doesn't need further recommendation. Truly one of the best games I've ever played straight through in one sitting. But for more, over the past couple of years I've enjoyed Oxenfree 1 and 2 and Thimbleweed Park. Oxenfree is kind of light on gameplay but it is a fun and kind of creepy story. And Thimbleweed Park is "what if the x-files was an old school point and click adventure."

Don't let the "early access" banner scare you, this game hits like a heroine injection and ends just as fast. But in the mean time, you're gonna experience some of the most intense FPS action in your goddamn life in just <8 hours.
Truly worth checking out.

Bakeru: Beat this game in <8 hours Yesterday and honestly it was well worth the price of $20 on Sale on Steam now.

Great 3d platformer set in a mythical modern Japan with awesome and creative levels, as well as some sick platforming!
