http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/116718-DLC-Warning-Labels-Coming-to-California-GameStops

The idea came after reading about Gamestop putting them on their used games, but that only applies to used games I'm talking about new games as well.

Since most DLC is planned and made during the months leading up to release it shouldn't be that hard to keep track of either.

I think this might be a good idea from both a consumer and company side, on one hand the consumer now knows what a games DLC is without having to go online and check, on the other hand specfic warning like ones about online passes may lead to less used sales.

What do you guys think?

I support the use for used games - labels specifying if components of a game are restricted to first user only. But for new - I don't even know if it's possible.

Not all DLC is planned prior to release, and many very popular games continue to get DLC well beyond the release. If a game doesn't have the label, then decides to release new content due to unexpected popularity of their game, what is the consequence of not having the label?

I think it is also fairly safe to assume that the majority of games can be expected to release DLC of some sort, so is a label even necessary?

CEX in the UK already does that. On the pricing sticker it'll say the name of the game and then if it has an online pass or dlc with it, it says if it's not included. So for example a copy of Battlefield 3 will say:

Battlefield 3 *No DLC, Offline*

-Price-

Personally I think it's a good idea because then you know what you're buying.
