After you've played portal 2 you'll see why it needed to be made. It's a fantastic sequel. The game struck me as very self contained with its story all told in itself, and my reaction on the announcement of portal 2 was 'uh... did this game really need a sequel?'

It's way too short.
Co-op sucks because you're either waiting for some idiot to figure out the puzzle or you're being rushed along by your partner who has beaten the co-op mode several times already.
It has almost zero replayability.
It's a pretty fun game while it lasts but totally not worth it compared to all the other titles that have come out this year. Rent it or buy it super cheap from Steam or a bargain bin.

Well Portal 2 doesn?t have allot of replayability because its a puzzle game. Sure you might play it again for the same reason you might watch a movie again but once you have solved the puzzles unless you have a short memory there really isn't any challenge. You're just going thru the motions.everythingbeeps said:I feel sorry for people who feel like a game like this has "zero replayability". Does anyone remember the good old days when people replayed a game because it was FUN?
Now they need all sorts of unlockable gimmicky crap, or they need to be able to wander around aimlessly after finishing the game, or multiple paths, or whatever.
Portal 2 was amazing fun, and it's fun the second time you play it as well. It ain't $60 anymore, so that argument goes out the window too.
Fantastic game. Great direction, and occasionally PERFECT direction. Great dialogue/story, fun puzzles...and...a fantastic coop campaign to boot! If you liked the original there is NO excuse not to get this one.Windknight said:ok, my familly usually expect me to write them a list of stuff i would like for christmas, and I usually include some games. Now, I'm in two minds over Portal 2.
In short, I loved the original portal. The gameplay, the art design, the humour, and the 'just right' length. Still love it and occasionally pop it into the xbox for a replay.
But.
The game struck me as very self contained with its story all told in itself, and my reaction on the announcement of portal 2 was 'uh... did this game really need a sequel?' I know they game has gotten a lot of good reviews, but I've also seen several qualify those reviews with it feeling unnecessary or at least not as good as the original, so yeah, I'm in two minds.
In case it makes a difference, I've been very careful about avoiding spoilers just in case, but the internet has still managed to make me thoroughly sick of the Space module thingy before I've even played the game.
Can I first ask how many other items are on your list?Windknight said:Snip Snop Snup
It isn't free, it doesn't cost him anything, yes. But odds are the people buying him the gifts are going to have some kind of cap on the number of gifts. Portal 2 still costs too much for the amount of enjoyment you get out of it, renting it, not wasting a perfectly good Christmas present is the way to go.lacktheknack said:Christmas list = free.
I only played with friends.Radeonx said:If you don't like playing with randoms, then play with someone you know.
The co-op mode was super fun for me, so saying it sucks just because you get shitty people isn't very fair.
