I've been watching all the shows on screwattack, thatguywiththeglasses, etc that always talk about how amazing the snes was and how many amazing games it had. I was just wondering if the system would still be fun for someone who isn't looking through tinted nostalgia goggles.

Also for discussion value what are your favorite snes games?

Ren & Stimpy: Time Warp for the SNES is easily the greatest game ever made.

(Although I might note you need two people for maximum enjoyment)

If you can find one, you have to factor cost. the good games are usually going to be collector items, and therefore really, really expensive (considering they're all used, old games).

My honest recommendation: Get a SNES Emulator, and try out the SNES experience on PC before committing to buy. And even then, a SNES emulator is free, Rom's (the games) are easily found and downloaded for free, and honestly you'll probably have a better time going that route. Saves you money too.

So in the end, do you want a collectors item with a limited supply of games, or to go the virtual route? Then again though, I've been playing emulators since i was a teen, so i'm kinda biased.

Also, for those of you who say that's copyright infringement, I believe the SNES and it's Roms were no longer covered by copyright law, and therefore are legal to download and use. But then again, I could be completely wrong. Might wanna check in on that before going the emulator route so you can't get hit with piracy

Whatever, just wash your hands.
an emulator might be better since some of the best games will be really really hard to find but if you have access then go for it, nothing feels like the snes controller, its great

If you can find one (not that hard, they are littered her ein the Netherlands) then HELL FLIPPIN YES!

I always liked Donkey Kong 1 & 2, Contra. Can't say I remember alot of games though. I was to young to really remember it actually. maybe if I sit down for a while I can come up with a few.

STARFOX! gah... how can I forget that one.

Anyway, if you can get the SNES and get a decent library then sure.

Just a few months ago I bought me one with a few games and I think it's money well spent If you can find one at a reasonable price I'd say go for it.

Between the state of SNES emulation and the Wii's virtual console, there's no real reason to own an actual SNES anymore, unless you're a collector of systems or just someone looking for nerdy street cred.

There's hundreds of great SNES games and you should definitely play them, but buying an SNES seems like a roundabout way to do it.

SNES has some GREAT games. And many games found on the SNES are the foundation of the gaming culture.

It is one of the most shining examples of the golden age of gaming.

If you can find a cheap one and get some games: get them and play on the TV.

If not... well... emulation works VERY well on PC... and on Wii... and handhelds (PsP) and stuff.

If you have a Wii, see what you can get on the virtual console. If not, you could either get one from Ebay or, you know, absolutely not use an emulator.

To answer the question on why i don't get it on wii ware, I don't own a wii yet ( I know I'm the last person in North America not to..),and for emulation I don't really like it just because I hate using a keyboard, and I like to actually have physical copies of games.
