Now, before anyone says this, I've already been over to Ultimate Guitar forums and asked the same question, but all I got was guys telling me to get a valve amp rather than telling me why or why not to get this amp that I'm looking at.

It's a Marshall Valvestate VS100H that comes with a cab.

As far as reviews and youtube videos go, it sounds pretty good for the money I'll be paying for it (around $400AUS)

Please stop telling me to go and get an all valve amp!! They break too easily and are WAY too expensive for me on my student income to buy. Maybe in 5 years so, I'll buy a JCM2000 all Valve amp, but until then NO.

I would say that "buy valve" was fairly sensible advice, you won't get a huge stack for that money, but you'd get 15w...possibly bigger if you go 2nd hand.

They don't break easily...

Go play on this amp and see how you like it. Personally, I think the difference between transistor and valve is enormous. I had the Marshall MG100 HDFX(something like that...)and I was pretty happy to see it go. But it might suit your tastes.

Edit - Does it have to be marshall? Does it have to be enormous? Laney and Orange have some great amps.
