My mom got me Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Christmas, which I really don't like at all. I know it's a gift, but my mom said I can sell it to Gamestop and she'll help pay for a new game. I was thinking about Human Revolution because it seems like a very interesting and unique game, plus the soundtrack was done by the same composer that made the Splinter Cell Double Agent soundtrack, which has one of my favorite soundtracks in any game. I haven't played any sci-fi games other than Mass Effect 2 and Fallout New Vegas, of which I loved Mass Effect 2 but thought New Vegas was mediocre and boring. I also loved Splinter Cell Conviction and Chaos Theory, which seem to be sort of similar as far as stealth mechanics go. So, should I get it?

It's got a similar style to Splinter Cell, in that you CAN stealth through but when the shit hits the fan you can bust out a Machine Gun or Rocket Launcher and take people out.

If you like RPGs with FPS mixed in and some choice then yeah, go for it.

I've been enjoying the hell out of it myself.

The game has a easy understanding story and you can have a choice of stealth or combat in the game or a bit of both it took me about 2-3 days to complete it and half a day for the dlc overal its a good sci fi rpg and with concequences of diffrent actions it will take you a long time to get all 300g achievements which involve no killing, no alarms and on hard.

I've just got it and am very eager to start playing, going to try and resist until my new mouse arrives, so I'm not going to be much help to OP.

However as you're talking about stealth, how are the stealth mechanics? I adore stealth games and whenever given the option tend to play very stealthy with a just a knife/pistol headshots and rarely use rocket launchers. I played the whole of the other two Deus Ex games this way.

Basically does it have any issues like the A.I knows where you are even if they haven't seen you (Ala vanilla Stalker: SoC, need to finish that game), or the opposite problem I had with Fallout: New Vegas (just finished it today, loved it) where I could just wander around peoples noses and they wouldn't notice me.

Also any tips on what I should/shouldn't level (e.g. swimming in the first Deus Ex) that you could say without spoiling anything?

My personal GOTY from 2011. The only problem with it were the boss fights but I absolutely adored the rest of it. Also, you brought up the soundtrack and I loved the music in the game. Especially the main theme.

No. The stealth is very well balanced compared to a lot of games these days. You will be using a lot of Gears of War style cover mechanics, though, so be prepared to spend a sizable portion of the game with a third-person view of Jensen with his arse glued to the wall. It's not a bad thing for me, but obviously tastes vary from person to person.

Secondly, the game pushes you into stealth, and then can pull a fast one. You get hefty XP bonuses for non-lethal and stealthy gameplay, so unless you absolutely have to kill your enemies, staying hidden is the way to go. Unfortunately, this can cause problems when you run into the forced boss fights. Basically, make sure you have at least one level in the Typhoon augment after the first few missions in the Detroit hub. Also, Hacking: Capture is very useful, as is the Cloaking Aug for stealth players.

Thanks for your input, guys!. I just got the game on Amazon for just $18, what a steal!

Also, the soundtrack is pretty similar to Double Agent, in a good way.

I interrupted Dark Souls for an evening to start playing DE:HR.

I dislike it. It's a bit sluggish, but there seems to be a lot of depth to it and the story looks interesting, so I'm expecting it to get better. The gameplay reminds me a bit of Rainbow 6 too, and that I like. Not impressive at first, but looking forward to the rest of the adventure. After Dark Souls, that is.

Oh, and I loathe Splinter Cell, so there's a reason why I'm not ecstatic at first, I guess.
