For a good while I was against buying New Vegas. It just didn't seem like it made any significant changes from 3. ... I caved in and bought it today. It's just as fun as 3 was.

No bugs on the computer release as far as I've experienced, though the framerate seems to have a few issues. Regardless I think you will enjoy the game if you enjoyed the third, its largely the same, yes. But since the main fun in Fallout was exploration and dismemeberment, you should be able to enjoy both in New Vegas. There's also the modding and shit which might be interesting, though I still haven't reached it in my game. (I'm enjoying it, but I find I need plenty of breaks inbetween, I'm more a fan of wondering round killing people than finding my way through dark coridors and laboratories)McFox said:

I typically do; however, I did have bad experiences with both the Resident Evil Series ( The fith game was lame) and Gears of War (Extremely disappointed in the multiplayer from the second). I just hope that I won't be spending money on a game that I'll eventually become disappointed in. More than likely, I'll be renting it first before I actually do purchase it.deonte9109 said:

You should get it, eventually. I have yet to have a bug in my 20 or so hours of game play on the PC, but I need luck somewhere in my life.

Although it shares some of the same core gameplay with Fallout 3, the feel and experience of it are more in line with the original Fallout games. Being that Obsidian includes members of the original Fallout's development team, that doesn't really come as a surprise, but it's a welcome change of pace from Fallout 3. They've made several minor additions to Fallout 3's formula that altogether make it a better game; new weapons, upgraded crafting system, hardcore mode, some actual humor / pop culture references, the faction element that makes decisions far less about good/bad and much more about ambiguous choices, improvements to skills, additional perks/traits, excessive content, enemies returning from Fallout 2, etc.
My understanding with the bugs is that, while prevalent across all platforms, some of the stranger bugs are largely on the PC version; on 360, I've personally had 3 freezes in 30 hours of play time, about five or six situations where enemies clipped through the ground, and the occasional quest take a turn for the strange; if you can accept bugs once in a while and remember to save often, the game is an improvement on Fallout 3 in nearly every sense of the word otherwise. Having found Fallout 3 to be lacking compared to the rest of the franchise, the depth and style of New Vegas are a nice change of pace.

Haha I don't feel it's enough like Fallout 3. Bring back the perks every level and bobble heads. I would have liked to run in one or two people from Fallout 3. Also the crafting seems like a bit much. It sorta reminds me of fallout 1 and 2, especially with all the references.

Go for it. Nearly all of the bugs are already fixed and the remaining minor ones can be easily fixed with mods.
New Vegas blows Fallout 3 out of radioactive water. As much as I enjoyed 3, NV does "Fallout" far better and there is no going back to the Capital Wasteland now.

Most definitely yes. New Vegas is actually less buggy than FO3 (with the unofficial DirectX fix and day 1+2 patches). The game is far better than FO3 in so many ways. The quests are a lot more complex, the dialogue and text is more humorous, the immersion is better, the world is more detailed, shooting mechanics are improved, and there is more variety in everything (weapons, armors, things to do, monsters). The only downside that I could see in this game, aside from the bugs you may encounter, is the crappy engine. If you can tolerate that, you should get New Vegas.
Can you tolerate major bugs? Did you like Fallout 2 and wish it could be recreated on a modern game engine? Are you willing to accept that Fallout 3 was way too easy and Obsidian has made efforts to correct the problem that will likely frustrate the fuck out of you until you get your head around the idea that "this is NOT Fallout 3 no matter how much it looks and plays like it"?
Then get New Vegas. Legitimate Game of the Year candidate even with the bugs.

if you loved fallout 3 and you are willing to give endless hours to unlocking every single thing in the game so thats like 100 hours minimum, then yes, go and buy this right now, lock yourself in your room and dont come out until your eyes are bleeding from the awesome. also, dont forget to patch it because it is quite buggy

I really enjoyed Fallout 3,and i really enjoyed Fallout:New Vegas. It's a "more of what i like" kind of game.

Rent it, see if you like it, if you do buy it. Although I would NEVER buy one of those types of games unless its on PC for 3 reasons.
1. For the better graphics.
2. For the mods to make a MUCH better game.
3. And no, not just for the boobies. =P
Edit : And don't base buying a game on if it has some bugs on release that WILL be buffed out.

I'd say yes, but you might want to wait till the next patch if you can't handle minor and possible major bugs.
The only show stopper I ran into was saves corrupting about 40 hours in(lost about 2 hours progress twice over). I thinking now it might have been all the items I was hoarding, I went back to my last good save and sold a lot of useless crap and haven't had a corrupt save since, but I still make backup saves often and find it hard to trust it.
