Ok, I just played the demo for Rainbow Six Vegas (xbox) and thought it was pretty fun. I'm more of a pc player however so I check on Steam and find that it is being sold for only $10. I was wondering if anyone here has played Rainbow Six Vegas and RSV 2? What are your opinions of it?

I want to get the game and maybe play some coop with my brother. Would you guys suggest I get the first or second game if either one is worth getting?

Vegas 1 had the better maps, but Vegas 2 has more refined gameplay.

Vegas 2 on 360 still has somewhat of a population, but I haven't played on PC recently enough to tell you.

But for $10, the Campaign and Terrorist Hunt modes are fun enough.

If you like a very mainstream GoW game set in the Rainbow Six universe....GO for it.

:( I hate it because I liked the old rainbow sixes.

However, I like the first one more than the second. They're really about the same. 2 is more multiplayer focused though.

Get it if you want multiplayer, if you just want fan-fucking-tastic single player, just get Raven Shield

I agree with the above terrorist hunt is loads of fun and well worth the $10 and there's still a decent sized community so you could play online if you want but versus is kind of hard to get into.

Short answer RSV2 is easily worth $10

Well, as someone who just picked up the Xbox360 version for around $15 USD not too long ago myself, for $10: Go for it. While I haven't delved into the multiplayer yet, the single player campaign is very fun and very well made... excluding the story (then again, it's a Tom Clancy game, so what would you expect in terms of storytelling?). Be prepared for several moments of "DIFFICULTY RAGE!!", though. It does require some actual thought and tactics as opposed to, say, Call of Duty, and can be rather difficult in that aspect if you're used to the CoD campaigns.

I payed 20 bucks for vegas 2 but never played multiplayer, just campaign and terrorist hun, and hell yes it was worth it.
EDIT: and yes, there are "OMFGTHISBITISIMPOSSIBLE" moments throughout the campaign that are incredibly annoying -_-

The MP for RSV2 is atrocious but the Single player is worth a playthrough or two, trying to use different guns, difficulties, strategic approaches to the same situation, etc. is pretty fun. Also Terrorist hunt is fun with a buddy. Definitely worth ten bucks.

I got it for $20 not that long ago and while it held my interest long enough to play through the campaign I dont see myself going back to it any time soon. It's pretty fun but it doesn't deviate very much from pretty much every other cover based shooter made in the last 5 years. So if you dont have any other games like it (or at least not very many) its worth a try. And ten bucks is pretty damn cheap.

The R6 Vegas games are amongst the hugest, most steaming piles of poo ever to grace Pcs. Ever.

Do not buy them, heck, don't even play them if you get them for free. Both are abysmal in multiplayer and single player.
Their only redeeming quality is that they are marginally better than R6: Letd.... Lockdown.

Of course, that's my opinion as an old School R6 fan since part 1 (Ranbow Six, NOT R6V).

Seen with less bitterness, they are still only an average shooters. Gears of War with "real" weapons is the most accurate description of it.

As alternatives, on PC you could get:
- Any Call of Duty, which, despite me hating that series too, are still way better than R6V
- Gears of War: allright, PC only got part 1, but that's the "original" if you're´after that kind of gameplay.
- Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfare. A lot better than R6V, but still not as good as the original Ghost Recon or R6 games.
- Kane and Lynch. Also GoW gameplay with "real" weapons. And part 1 has a good story IMHO. Haven't played part 2 though.

Or, which would be the best alternative: go get the Original R6 games. Part 2, Rogue Spear is the best, but part 3, Ravenshield, is still pretty awesome.

On a sidenote: notice how all good R6 games have RS as initals? Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, RavenShield...

Very fun game, especially if you can get 3 of your friends to do Terrorist Hunts on Realistic with you. I had the pleasure (only once) of playing it with Baby Tea (of moderate fame); great time.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is the best modern shooter Ive played on the 360.Never played it on PC...cause I dont play on PC so I dont know how it fares there.
The first RS:V is good, but the second handles alot better....cause you can run.

I liked two better than one I have to say. I thought the single player gave me more options rather than jumping from cover like in one. Yea but for that money is worth it.

depends on what you're looking for

gameplay wise both are average competent cover based shooters, story wise rainbow six:vegas is...ok, I can't say the same for the second one

plus rainbow six vegas 2 has that silly exp level up system for getting access to gear and weapons

Oh God yes, this game is awesome! I played the first, and it was fun, but if you and a couple of friends all get this game then you can coop terrorist hunt! it's some of the funniest coop you will ever do.

Very nice game for that price, although not on par with the older more tactical games, it's still a good buy.
