Should I play Arkham Asylum?

I actually just bought it the other day, and couldn't believe I didn't buy it sooner, especially with the big Batman fan I am. I'm just usually skeptical of comic superhero games which usually end up sucking, but I gave in to the cheap price and all the rave reviews I read about it.

Definitely go pick it up. Especially since Arkham City is coming out this fall/winter I believe, which is defnitely one of my more anticipated games now of this year.

Should I play Arkham Asylum?

I played the demo forever ago and it didn't grab me but everybody says its amazing and Arkham City is coming out now...

I like to play new games (when I can afford it) so I'll probably end up at least trying it. Should I get Asylum before City?

I didn't like the demo either, but after seeing it get several good reviews I decided to pick it up anyway and I really enjoyed it. Suppose it goes to prove that you can't always judge a game by the demo.

Definately. It's possible that you might not like it, I suppose. But every single person I know who has played it loved it, even those who weren't batman fans. Try it out.

Without a doubt, it is the best Batman game ever and its one of the best action adventure games ever.

There's too much garbage being released these days to ignore genuinely great games, and AA is most assuredly a great game. It's a well polished original piece of work that every fan of video games or Batman should play.

Considering City takes place after Asylum I would recommend you play it. If you really can't get into it, but still want to play City then I'm sure you could look up a playthrough on youtube or something.

Ehhh, I don't know. The game ends with the status quo being restored. Not a lot to continue from. Even the bit after the credits was randomized. So, canonically, you can't really continue from that.

And they already have a plot for this one, it's not really connected to Asylum other than a bunch of characters that appeared in Asylum.

Quincy Sharp has become mayor of Gotham and closed of the slums section of the city to contain all the inmates from the asylum since it was destroyed.

Not for the reason of being able to wrap your mind around the plot of Arkham City (seriously it's about Modern Mythology so you can just TOSS continuity!) but I would definitely give this game a try, in fact I did, and loved it. Others may disagree but I've also found it to have great replay value.

Oh dear god! In the time it's taken for you to ask that thoroughly stupid question, you've wasted valuable Batman time!

Brilliant game, my only complaint is that they ramp up the difficulty in the boss fights by removing the camera rotation which totally throws out my gameplay; that and the fact that it uses save points and there's no save option (I'm a PC gamer in case you couldn't tell) This meant that I ended up doing one boss fight 10 times.

The fact that those are the only faults with the game should be a testament to its awesomeness.

I don't know what the content of the demo is but I've played quite a few demos that were a let down and not representative of how great the full games were (inFamous and Just Cause 2 for example). I can tell that I don't even really give a shit about Batman and I thought Arkham Asylum was close to being one of the most perfect games I've played, so I'd urge you to give it another go.
