I am using windows 7, and i guess Microsoft is offering people who use it the chance to upgrade FREE to windows 10. I think its "generous" of them, but at the same time I dont want to run into any unseen issues that the tech savvy would know about, if there are any even?

Should I upgrade from windows 7 to 10?
(aside): Is it possible to dualboot windows 10 and a ubuntu OS on a laptop?

You can always wait for a bit. I'm pretty sure the offer for upgrade is valid for a year, so you can just see if people do report problems and then upgrade if there aren't.

Yes, I don't see what could stop you.

It's looking like a decent product however they do appear to be rushing it out a bit so I'd recommend waiting a while so you can see the feedback on the retail release before going through the trouble of the upgrade. I'm hoping for someone to come up with a way to patch Windows Media Center back in before I do the upgrade...I understand why they're abandoning it but it's the simplest and most reliable DVR software I've come across and I like it for the little free to air television I still watch.

Every launch of a new OS has a bad few first months. This is often due to incompatibility and you're waiting for the developers to release a patch of needed, there might be problems with that patch.

Unless you're willing to deal with the up hill down hill struggles with new software then I would suggest letting the dust settle to see what games/applications suffers the fate of abandonware and incompatibility.
