Should MMO's have more player interaction?

What I want to see is an enhanced Emote system, and an intimate chat system.
I'd like to see emotes interact with other users, like dancing, or a high-five. And then I'd like to be able to sit down at the local tavern or Inn and chat it up with those around me. Not just "Talk in the general chat" stuff, but perhaps a 3rd or 1st person perspective, that would move to address the speakers.
I don't know how it would work, but the whole, "Interaction is jumping over other players and running through them" thing is a bit alienating. In the MMO, FIesta, there was a "Salute" emote where the character raised their arms foreward, parallel to the ground. It quickly became the "hug" emote, and I think being able to hug made a big difference.

I've been playing the new DC universe MMO. It might as well have been an offline singleplayer game for all the player interaction it has. All it does is have other random superheroes flitting about around you spamming their attacks trying to show off.

Back in the early days of Star Wars Galaxies there was a great deal of player interaction, especially for the crafters. I'd love to see a return to that in an MMO. (Preferably set in the old west with player housing!)
I loved swg before the big changes were made. It even allowed you to make player cities and have houses. It was really fun to do that until you realized in that game no one used there houses :( It was disheartening walking down a street with no one in the entire town.

they should have a better economy and form of interplayer government and property... EVE almost did it well... but due to it being a game basically playing with excel spreadsheets(yes i"m using it) and it just being ships it's hardly worth it.

Player quests would make the system even better and evolve even further. There could be a service economy!
