In honour of Rememberance Day, I wrote this during the two minute silence:

Lux Aeternis

Through rain, sleet or snow,
We shall persevere.
The spark that lives inside us
Shall not die, shall not fall silent.
Though we may be oppressed,
Broken, beaten down and destroyed,
We shall persevere.
We shall not die.

At times when it seems hopeless,
We may falter, stumble,
But our iron will remains unbending.
Our resolve shall not be overcome.
Though we may die,
Though our bodies, mere shells that they are,
May rot away,
We are more than men.
We are an idea, a hope, a dream,
And that cannot be killed.

Long after we?re gone,
When we are lost to the ravages of time,
The spark will take root in a new generation.
The spark shall blossom, become more.
That spark shall become a thought,
That thought shall become a word,
And that word shall become an idea,
The very same idea we, and those before us, died to protect.

That idea will grow,
Unbound by the constrains of humanity,
And in that we shall be granted new life?
Every man, woman and child who died
Daring to believe in a better world;
A world where none suffer, are persecuted or victimized,
A world of freedom, of love,
And of life.

It may not be great, but I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Following on from that (though, I did make that thread several months ago...), I've decided to add a little more optimism into The Escapist, as anyone who joins this lovely place seems to turn very quickly into a cinical bastards (Heck, I swear Suiseki IRL always used to make positive threads about good and happy things when she first joined, and now she's turned like the rest of us - pessimistic :p)
You rang? And th reason for that is because I wasn't entertaining with happiness. I get a lot more lulz when I'm a *****.

OT: I'd post a something beautiful, however at the moment my face is not on a digital format.

Her first thread (to my knowledge) was about being the weird kid in school and how much people hated her for her looks, I think that's hardly optimistic. Other threads she did were quote positive, though.

But to contribute:

this bit of poem from The Wheel of Time

My love is gone, carried away
by the wind that shakes the willow,
and all the land is beaten hard
by the wind that shakes the willow.
But I will hold her close to me
in heart and dearest memory,
and with her strength to steel my soul,
her love to warm my heart-strings
I will stand where we once sang,
though cold wind shakes the willow

That was... bliss. You don't happen to have more where that came from? I've been trying to get into classical music for ages because I think it's supposed to be brilliant, but I've never managed.

While we're on good songs, I'll share another one with you which I since recently am able to play on my guitar;

Also, 1000th post o/

Don't be mistaken, this is pure brilliance and I've bookmarked the thread. Why did I never get the idea to ask the Escapist for beautiful things? Every thing in every post I've seen so far is a tearjerker. I'm going to scroll through this thread and listen and look at everything posted in it lateron when I have more time.

Because the cynics on board would discourage such thought.

The opening scene to Clannad:

I instantly loved the show when I saw this, and now, having watched it in its entirety, knowing the importance and future of everything in this scene, I get chills every time. Also, I adore this song. So, so much.
