because i cant be arsed to take a picture of myself. if your implying im insecure about my appearance...

i have an afro; a fairly large one. which really confuses people because genetics played the wildcard with me and i look white. im slightly overweight, i dont shave nearly as often as i should, and im 6tf and built like a quarterback.

yes, i do scare small children.

My choice of avatar has nothing to do with me not wanting to display my actual visage and everything to do with the wry chuckle I get whenever I read the demotivational I selected. I'd hardly have a real photograph up on my profile page if I didn't want you to know what I look like, now would I?

I have a pic up on my profile, although Mackheath has recently informed me that I resemble my avatar.
You have pink hair and are a woman who can kill people with a dirty look?

OT: If you really want to see my face, it's on my profile page. My avatar generally represents something that I like... and I change it fairly regularly.

I don't like the way I look so I hide behind Yoshi's egg.

...or on this site, Yoshi's egg superimposed over the Batman Begins logo with a funny caption that I spent a couple minutes making some time ago.

My picture is on my facebook, so no worries no I guess.

Thats me in my business shirt and tie
You look straight out of Office Space in that picture.
HOw do you know i'm not... is my response.

Seriously, thats just one of two real pics of me on facebook, and (god knows why) i wanted to appear professional for showing myself to the Escapist community.
:O Someone should make a 'suited up' thread with this similar sort of thing in mind. Showcasing all the awesome manly suitedness that we have on the escapist. I'm not starting it though. All my threads die out.

I can't be arsed to upload pictures, and there's only about thirty pictures of me in existence anyway, and all of themm are at least five years old, so it wouldn't really be me anyway.

Besides, my avatar is a constant insult to all those who didn't like FFVIII, and a reminder to all that I liked that game. It represents me and my opinions.
i liked it to the stroy was not as deep or as in depth as ff7 and had a wierd time paradox thing going on but the combat was good the over all story was great and the junction system if people just spen about 20mins messing around with it would still be in use today

unlike that bullshit from ffx-2

For those of you who don't choose to be honest with who they are, why do you hide behind an avatar which is not a picture of yourself? Be honest people, show me who you really are!
to those who are wondering, yes the picture in my profile is me.
Why is having an avatar other than your own photo dishonest? I am completely honest with who I am but my avatars are chosen for certain ideals they represent.

There already was a thread about this. I actually think most of us put up the REAL pictures behind our avatars. Unfortunately being so introverted I don't think you can get us to do that again. Just look up the "Behind the Avatar" thread if you're that interested. ;)

EDIT: but seriously that is me. >>

Just in case you were wondering, I'm the one in the dryer. And the one that edited this attempt at a motivational to correct it.

My friend, the same argument could be made for screen names/gamer tags...
So let me pose this question to you, "Why don't you use your real name?"
Some people (making a general statement here) prefer to lose themselves in a form of anonymity while on the net.
I am not one of those people, but I do know some who are self conscious about how they look.
This is part of the reason why artists like Lady Gaga have become famous.
She constantly hides her face in some form or another, in order to make a statement how "It doesn't matter what you look like, we're all just human beings/little monsters, and it's how you feel about yourself that matters."
Asking someone to show their face is something of a scary idea to some people (general statement).
You nor I have the right to ask someone to reveal their identity to the world unless they want to!

On Topic: I am to lazy to use an avatar anyway, I do however use my real name as my user name on this site.
Because I'd rather you know me by my name, rather than a picture of me...
Hope this clears up your little debate friend,

Until next time escapists, <3

-Trodo "Trevor" Baggins

P.S. I've been a user on here for a while now, and I always seem to make long general statements on this site trying to use my knowledge of life and recreation in a positive way.
If you like my ideas, feel free to add me "little monsters"...

EDIT: When I say "For a while now" I mean I've come to the escapist as a viewer of videos for well over a year now, but only recently have I decided to join the community as a poster in the forums... Just to clear that up.
