I mean, yeah, if you're playing againsta friend or a gym or the elite 4, it makes things seem more hectic, but if I'm walking through the tall grass to get to a pokemon center, then I'm jumped by a level 2 Metapod, I don't need a frigging siren alerting me I'm so close to fucking dying.

She's not. It's one of countless examples of how people greatly exaggerate the frequency of Navi's "Hey Listen" line. Maybe they changed it for the Collector's Edition, but my Navi only pipes up when I've not done anything significant for several minutes.

Not so much a phrase as a noise. From Dragon Age, Bards, their songs.
I don't know, maybe I'm just uncultured, maybe I don't understand Bards. I'm fairly certain throwing your arms back and yelling "HUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!" like you are charging up some DBZ super move isn't really the kind of singing anyone expected. There were plenty of sound effects in the game that could have substituted for what could reasonably be an indication of a Bard song activating, it could have made no sound at all it would still be less weird.
I'm not really sure I know why it bothered me as much as it did, but I just could never get over it. I would even make the effort to remove my headphones every time I was forced to activate a song simply because I would dramatically cringe every time I had to listen to it.

I enjoy the game enough, but the characters... well, less said about them, the better. The battle system is fun and the story would be interesting if cutscenes weren't so frequent (and not to mention that they seem to be around 30 minutes each, gag).

A few of the NPC's in New Vegas got repetitive after a while. I guess that was also true for Fallout 3 as well, except that there seemed to be a bit more variety in NPC's and locations. In Vegas though, you run into the same types of NPC's all over the place, so you end up hearing those dialogue lines more often than is tolerable. I'd shoot them for it if I didn't want to reload my saves. >_>
