Who do you think contributed to the video game industry? to me that would be Alexey Pajitnov, the man who invented Tetris.

way to make a really bad thread
I am almost sure that it was more than just one person.
And do you mean the game industry as a media form?
Or as an Art Form?
Or just a form of entertainment or industry?

I'd have to say Shigeru Miyamoto. The man practically invented the platforming genre with Donkey Kong; he created Super Mario Brothers, which was revolutionary for its time; he was responsible for The Legend of Zelda - the man made Nintendo a household name.

Pajitnov created the greatest puzzle game, but no designer is more respected than Miyamoto.

Nope, Pajitnov created Tetris in communist Russia for himself and his friends. It got passed around, stolen, and was made a hit. Although he didn't made the ripped off commercial versions, the original game was solely his. Thank you Play Value.

Miyamoto was and is still the king of the industry.

Ralph H. Baer, seeing as how he created the video game industry. you can talk about Allan Alcorn popularizing games with Pong, or you can talk about Shigeru Miyamoto saveing the industry in the 80's, but you have to give credit to the father of gaming Ralph H. Baer.

John Carmack is probably responsible for pioneering a lot of graphical effects with his engines. He is also part of the OpenGL project.

A game Desginer dosn't do as much as people think - the whole group contributes ideas, the concept artists uually create the characters - given guidelines by the group.

This is a bad thread tbh.

Sid Meier did for strategy games what Carmak did for shooters, so He should make the list as well.

Agree.

And ok Wii Music was terrible but show some respect to Miyamoto, without his mind gaming would not be anything like it is today.
