Ok so this will be my 200th post on the escapist forums.
Settle down I know you are all popping champaign corks in the back ground...
Sorry about the pause I just had a sarcgasm.
But it got me thinking, what are the significant mile stones in a person's postcount?

I know postcounts aren't everything or even a relivant measure of worth because you can post 7 billion posts that just agree with others just to knock your count up another notch and you can maybe write ten solid gold, thought provoking essays that inspire a great amount of healthy debate.

But never the less, what are the milestones?
What do they mean to you as a person?
And what do they say about you to other people?

For some reason i needed to get a fourth digit. After that i mellowed out and started to lurk a little more. It was a mental thing, i felt like my opinion wasn't worth as much when i had a 3 digit post count. Idk why, and don't ask. Just a weird thing.

The 1000th post tends to be a big deal to some people, but i'm just waiting for my 1337th post.

It seems that when you've gone gonzo people just tend to listen to your opinion more :S
Oh and 10000 posts is significant, it means you have spent the majority of your time on the escapist...kudos!

The milestones are really whatever you decide they are.
Although there are some things the site has added to point them out.
The title changes in particular.

I think people start to stand out of this crowd of trolls, fanboys, idiots and cynics once they reach more than 2000 posts.

so I guess 2000?

Kidding. At 200? Huh, that's a start. Still pretty meh, get to 2000 and I'll be impressed.

Do I even want to know?.

OT: The concept of a milestone in terms of posts is entirely up to you to decide. I don't think there are any set achievements out there but you know, badges or the rank of Gonzo might be a starting place.

Significant posts? The first, of course.

Apart from that, only a user's first few posts are significant to me. Say, below 100. If a user lasts for 100 posts without getting banned, you can be pretty sure he's not just a troll or something. After that it's just a matter of who's been here longer (or who has less of a life), which doesn't really mean anything.

I like how this guy thinks.

Here's a welcome speech!

I am Pimppeter2, and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? "No" Says the man at Ebay, "it belongs to the poor". "No" says the Man at religioustolerance.org, "it belongs to God". "No" says the man at Youtube, "it belongs to everyone". I rejected those answers. Instead; I chose something different. I chose the Impossible. I chose. The Escapist. With a forum where the opinionated would not fear the censor (within reason), where the Moderators would not be bound by petty morality, where the Gone Gonzo would not be constrained by the troll. And with the ache of your fingers (and perhaps a new keyboard), The Escapist can be yours as well...
