Worst, game, ever.

/ragefit

The stupid doll boss argahshfgashhsh how the hell are you meant to beat it honestly?! Half a bar of health, 6 pistol shots, no health kits and nothing else. No way of obtaining anything else because after you've gone so far you can't go friggin' back so what he hell am I meant to do? >_< asudhahsh

Who ever designed that boss and the combat system of Homecoming deserves to be burried alive and left for dead, peroid.

/ragefit over.

Flame on.

This is the 4th bashing thread today. FOURTH! And it's not just been in the same day, but in the SAME hour.

Why can't people just give it a rest.

the space was a pause for when I realised shattered memories is essentially silent hill meets clock tower. It was a pause of awesome.

Oh, good move.
(You gained awesome points)

But anyway, I love the concept of how trying to run from enemies is scarier, than having the saftey of killing them.

Well, you use evade in combat. That means you don't have to use health items. And don't use your pistol on normal enemies, the knife is much more effective. In fact, the knife is so ridiculously overpowered, I pissed through most of the game with it. When you master the evade, quick slash, quick slash, heavy slash combo, the game is a breeze.

In order of worst to best, here's how I rank the Silent Hill installments:

9-The Room} Which was an abomination upon the franchise and should join E.T. in the desert.
8-Origins} Which I'm told is actually worse than The Room. Having not played it, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
7-Homecoming} Judging by professional reviews, this is probably the most under-rated Survival Horror of all time. I'm going to try it myself next year at the earliest.
6-the movie} I'm almost suprised at how many people aren't about to lynch whoever made this. Although I've also seen some really retarded reasons for hating it, too.
5-the original} Go ahead and stone me for saying this, but the boxy PS1 graphics would ruin this for me.
4-Shattered Memories} As long as it doesn't contradict #3 any, I'm going to love it.
3-Silent Hill 3} Seriously, I don't get what Yahtzee has against the "Loony Brigade". This is the scariest game of the series, which means it acheives its goal more than anything on this list.
2-Silent Hill 2} It's the undisputed champion of story-telling in general, need I go on?
1-Restless Dreams} Just like the other one, but with more content!
I think it's far too early to put shattered memories on the list. Personally I think the game may evolve survival horror. The only thing Im worried is how they'll approach the story.

All I'm worried about is that the controls may not be as tight as needed.

the only motion seems to be in pushing them off you when they jump on you and that wont be too difficult to program. Everything else seems to be IR controlled which generally plays well.

Good point, although I am confident the story will come through in the end, yet my one worry is that people may put the game down because it is not a whole lot like the first Silent hill

Well, lets hope that dosen't happen. It's always a sad day in gaming when people don't play good games for dumb reasons.

Yeah I could have phrased the whole topic a lot better but I just felt the need to rant and vent my rage. I know how to evade in combat but I will admit I didn't know about the knife being totally overpowered... I think i'll give up with the game though, no way i'm going allllll the way back to the sewer and playing through that far again. Anyone know how to glitch the boss or something for an ezmode?

PS: The new Silent Hill does look awesome, oh and sorry for the rant.

I actually went back and started the game again using your advice, I used the knife on every monster and saved all ammo for bosses, I ended up with a lot more health kits and found boss fights a hell of a lot easier.

Although not the best game in the Silent Hill series I will admit I enjoyed the mind f*ck and I don't think its as bad as everyone thinks.

I got the ending where Alex gets drowned in the bath tub by his dad, by the way.

I really didn't like Homecoming very much. While the visual environments were great, the combat was annoying, Pyramid Head was fan service and I hated that you can get the joke ending on the first run through (which I did).

Not looking forward Shattered Memories too much either. If it were a completely different Silent Hill story altogether, rather than a remake of the first, I'd probably feel otherwise.

My two cents. Sorry for feeding the flames.

Well, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is not a remake: it's a reimagining. There's a difference. Plus with the new gameplay element (i.e. building the game experience around your psycholigical profile) it's unlikely to be exactly the same.
