Now this just sounds like a terrible idea. On one hand Walking Dead has done it successfully. But then Half Life 2 deleted ep 3 thus leaving fans with an unfinished story.

So would you still by Silent Hills if it was released episodically or would you just wait till full game version? But then we have the irony in that if we waited for the full game version then know one buys the episodic version then that may make them cancel the game all together.

Personally, i would want the full game in one go so i can experience the full game in my own time. Seems to me a game based on tension and atmosphere cant work so well when you get a cliff hanger ending and its finished. Then a month later you can play part 2, but then the tension would have to build up again.

What are peoples thoughts?

Aslong as they ACTUALLY finish the whole thing and not do a couple episodes then stop because its not doing as good as they think it should be I won't have a problem with that.
Plus its Kojima & Del Toro what could go wrong? :p

Horror games are actually well suited to an episodic format. Like comedy, horror can wear out its welcome over an extended period of time. Better to experience it in short bursts.

Is this thing going to be cross platform? Silent Hills seldom come to the PC...

Personally I think it depends on what they're going for. That trailer certainly didn't give me the impression that they're trying to make this game "like" a Silent Hill game.

This news just makes me imagine how the previous games could be made into episodes. Downpour and Silent Hill 3 might, maybe. Silent Hill 4 definitely.

Horror, maybe. Games, I don't know.

I can't think of any episodic game that was improved by having me wait 3 to 4 months to finally continue the story. And that's only if the game is all about the story, like the Telltale games. If there's genuine gameplay and the game cuts off my enjoyment after like two and a half hours I think it would kinda piss me off. It's what happened with Ground Zeroes; You get introduced to a cool new gameworld and mechanics, then you get teased a bit of the story, and right when you're getting into it the game just stops leaving you're boner unattended.

Anything could work, I guess, but unless it's some super epic tale that stretches for hours upon hours I don't see why they can't simply give us the whole story in one go, like every other normal and satisfying game.
