I was browsing through the PSN store and saw Sim City 2000 for the ps1.
I have seen my friend play it I thought it was pretty awesome. So after I downloaded it I started a new map. I was completly and utterly confused on how to do things. I built a few crummy houses and a Gas plant before all I had in the treasury was 6$. So my fellow escapists, can you assist me on this primitive yet fun game?

I remember having similar issues when I first played it years ago, I think I just had to wait until my city actually became a city and not just coloured boxes.

Don't put residential boxes next to industrial boxes, I can't remember if that helps but I never did.

I just put boxes next to eachother to see what would happen.Only the green ones turned into houses for some reason.

Thers hould be some form of tutorial box showing a demonstration of a fully functioning town, just find it, build it and let the money flow a little. After you have some spare funds go crazy.

If that doesn't work, keep looking for advice because I haven't played that game for years.

HERETIC! GET HIM

I liked 2000, you gotta start out small, a decent amount of industrial (I think it's something like half the number of residential squares you have) and a few commercial. They don't move up until there's more education in that city. It's a slow moving game.

This is right. you have to build a steady revenue stream before you can really do anything. It also helps to hike the taxes up really high for a couple years.

I played the PS1 port of SC2K, and it's a prime example of the need to keep PC games on the PC.

Plus, the biggest mistake SimCity players make is trying to build too much too fast. You really have to start with a small town and work your way up.
