Although this could be great too.

i can imagine that little simcity news reel thing on the bottom with 40k themed news and tips now....Zantos said:Tutorial tip #4: Don't call the people in control of the Emperor class titans "A big bunch of pussies".Emiscary said:Anyone who claims there would be absolutely no diplomacy hasn't really thought it through. The Imperium is made up of dozens of largely autonomous governing bodies that don't owe direct allegiance to anyone (theoretically) besides The Emperor and The High Lords of Terra.
Your default course of action when dealing with aliens or traitors is naturally war, but it might be a bad idea to tell the Adeptus Mechanicus to fuck off and die when you disagree- considering that they're the ones building your guns and ships. Similarly you don't wanna step on the Ecclesiarchy's toes considering they can whip whole star systems into a religious frenzy and declare a holy war on your ass if you don't take them seriously. There are other examples, but there ya go.
Tutorial tip #17: Anyone could be an Inquisitor and they are unlikely to have a sense of humour.
Tutorial tip #40: Keep calm and wait for the Ultramarines to show up.
Yeah, I'm really up for this now. Could be some seriously good fun.
War is diplomacy... at the point of a lance.PieBrotherTB said:I'm not sure a 40k-based space management type thing would end up being much different than any other space management type thing (Endless Space, GalCiv etc), except with no diplomacy because THERE IS ONLY WAR.
Certainly some interesting stuff could be done with the Astronomicon/the Warp, but I'm not sure how it'd translate into gameplay in a unique way.
even a racing game! the setup is some speedfreaks want to make their battles a bit more interesting, so they hold races between nob bikers in the middle of them! i imagine it would be a bit like mario kart, but rather than laps, just single large courses. perhaps their could be laps too, i dunno. anyway, the borders for the racetrack are broken vehicles or the warring factions fighting eachother. luckily, they cant really hurt you because nobs on bikes are toughness 5, so 30% or less of the shots that hit would actually cause damage (unless tau are involved, then you are gonna die damn fast)Geo Da Sponge said:In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
*Cuts back on war funding*
YOU CAN'T CUT BACK ON FUNDING! YOU WILL REGRET THIS!
Okay, on topic, this is a cool idea. But that's no surprise, since the Warhammer 40,000 universe is big and detailed yet so open to additions that you can pretty much create a game for absolutely any genre from it. Yes, any genre. Want a sidescrolling fighter? Say that Khorne randonly grabbed a load of 'great warriors' and decided they have to lay the smackdown on each other to gain glory. An aerial combat simulation? Well, there's a pretty wide selection of both atmospheric and space fighters to pick from. Management game? You get this.
does it have cooperative multiplayer? how about competitive?CrossLOPER said:...but how does it appeal to the "broader audience" and how can we apply motion controls? Also, can we stick this in an iPhone?Emiscary said:A good idea.
well, its not like GW is a videogame development studio, so couldn't some game dev just pay for the license and then make it anyway? (assuming they had the funding to pay for the license and development costs of course)Sir Shockwave said:I think I'd be more excited about playing this than Dawn of War 40 Billion or another SPHESS MAREEEN. though it would really be less like a Total War game, and more like the Dawn of War Campaign map, since that kinda makes more sense for this setting and type of game.SckizoBoy said:Huh... I'd rather go for a Warhammer 40K Total War style-y game, where there are elements from various factions on a game world covering several star systems, an appropriate tech/building/research tree with the usual load out of units then everyone going ape shit.Emiscary said:snip
That'd be much better. Can have RTT battles as well, TBS main-map gameplay and assault bonuses when you drop an invasion force right on top of an enemy stronghold, or something.
Requires more thought... but fucking hell, it'd be an awesome game if CA pulled it off. Think about it... 20000 plus elements onscreen blasting the shit out of each other, tanks, titans and all... -_-
You sir are a genius quick someone call Creative Assembly and get them on this now.SckizoBoy said:Huh... Why not? Instead of flooding and earthquakes you get Tyranids and demonic incursions as disasters!Jandau said:I find it mildly disturbing that there are at least two other people that have the same dream game idea as me. The point I make is that GW is *very* stingy when it comes to licensing it's own properties.Quazimofo said:well, its not like GW is a videogame development studio, so couldn't some game dev just pay for the license and then make it anyway? the rumors also hold that warcraft was the result of a similar debacle, but i don't put any merit in either, because i honestly don't care.Sir Shockwave said:The point I make is that GW is *very* stingy when it comes to licensing it's own properties.Quazimofo said:well, its not like GW is a videogame development studio, so couldn't some game dev just pay for the license and then make it anyway? You all know the end result of some of this debacle as Starcraft, if the Urban Legends hold any amount of truth.
True enough. But it just goes to show GW are extreamly stingy about their licences. As another example, THQ for DoW: Dark Crusade wanted to introduce a new Auxillary Alien type. GW veto'd them, so we got the Vespid.Quazimofo said:the rumors also hold that warcraft was the result of a similar debacle, but i don't put any merit in either, because i honestly don't care.Sir Shockwave said:The point I make is that GW is *very* stingy when it comes to licensing it's own properties.Quazimofo said:well, its not like GW is a videogame development studio, so couldn't some game dev just pay for the license and then make it anyway?
