The Simpsons does not need to die... The Simpsons needs to be reborn. The series was amazing until about season 6 then once season 11 came the show took a big dive. then after the movie it started to get really freaking funny again. This show needs to get rid of the writing staff and get some new ones, so they can have some fresh ideas.

For me, The Simpsons and Family Guy just massively went down at one point, and they both became a lot more interesting. I went back to earlier episodes of both shows, and it's definitely me not liking what either of them have become.
Problem with these shows, is they tend to sort of parody themselves, making their characters more extreme. I found Simpsons more entertaining when Homer wasn't just stupid, and did the odd clever thing now and again. In the later series, he seems to have lost more of his braincells.

If it was me, I would kill off the show, but I know that isn't going to happen so I.... don't watch it. Just have to find other things to watch, that are amusing to me. Ah, thankyou internets :D

hmmm i actually like the newer ones and i think the older ones are boring, ive just watched one of the latest ones (Angry Dad: The Movie) and ive never laughed so much at a Simpsons episodes... i think its hit n miss like with all the animated shows, some are just pure gold that become awesome memorable episodes, others just bomb...

To quote Cracked, "The Simpsons are like having a shitty house guest who also happens to be Mahatma Gandhi. Sure, they can't take the hint that it's time to leave, but you can't exactly kick them out."

Hehe, its funny how people like to think that their personal feelings matter.

Too bad its all about the green (or whatever colour a country's money is. The Simpsons are marketable. Either:
1)Shut the hell up about it and get used it to it, cause no one wants to hear you have a pity party.
2)Shut the hell up about it and stop watching it, cause no one wants to hear you have a pity party.
By your logic I won't take your advice, seeing as how your personal feelings don't matter.
I suppose not. Appearantly it does with as much reaction I've gotten from the statement.

Businesses just dont give two damns about any one person, or really many groups (you'd have to be big to actually impress the people at the heart of the simpsons nation). The Simpsons are like EA and activision. They package tired overdone mediocrity and know that people like us (not so much you and me us, more widescale numbers us) will jump through hoops and stand on our hind legs just to get it.

People who watch the show and complain later are trained dogs, and thats about as simple as it gets.

Eh, I quit watching a while ago, I can't say I care for the newer stuff...

But hey, that's just my opinion.

Of course, it'll still keep running as long as people keep watching and it makes money, so... yeah.

I wasn't too found of the latest episode but I have always thought the others were alright.

Actually, this is the best option if you want the show to stop.

I've stopped watching years ago.

But I never was a big fan in the first place. Sure, it was kinda funny, but never really that good. Except when Mr. Burns was on it, then it was hilarious.

That might have been a big part of the reason why I never liked it that much, all my favourite characters were minor ones, I'd tune in in case they'd be on, and end up watching a lot of the show that was just kinda okay.

You're right, you know. It reminds me of shows on the escapist. Game Dogs would recieve hundreds of comments talking about how shit it is, presumably from people who watch it every week just to see how shit it is. The chances of a show being kept on at the escapist is based on its popularity, so when all these nay sayers continue to watch it they increase its ratings, sending the wrong message. That is why I try not to watch any Lisa Foyles' Top 5 work.

If it's on I'll watch it.

I much prefer things like Futurama and American Dad.

Oh...
Why thank you. I'll admit I've been callous, but that is the basic message I'm trying to convey.

I used to comment on how much I hated Lisa Foyle's show, but then I realized the hypocrisy and just that I like Top 5 type shows. So now if I comment, I just try to look past the hostess and focus more on the content of the show.

There's actually a lot of potential in it. You just need to have a bit more fun with it. The theme X-Play episodes always struck me as funny, and something you could do for a top n show and make it entertaining.

And weirdly, I never had a problem with Game Dogs, but then again, I'm just one of those people.

Why would they stop, why would they kill off the one of the biggest cashcows in the world, I mean, who likes money anyway.

You really think a lot of the people who dislike the new episodes just watch it because they want to talk shit about it? I don't know about that one. I know there is quite a few saying it's the only thing that's possible for them to watch at the moment.

You always see people saying something like "I didn't think this much episode, but I'll give the show one more chance" or "Having seen every episode so far, I can say this is rubbish, and I hope it will improve". People who have false hope towards something that they know is no good, but will keep watching anyway.

It took The Simpsons over ten seasons to get bad.
Family Guy did it in one.
I agree the humour changed a bit after the 1st season but I reckon it was still pretty good till the 5th or 6th season.
Well, all I can say is, Family Guy stopped being funny and the writing over all just terrible after I saw the 100th flash back joke. (which was easily within the 1st season)

Doesn't help that Seth MacFarlane and the rest of his writers seem to have forgotten how and when to end a damn punch line. I mean, Jesus, when the punch line of your joke goes on for several minutes, you fail at humor.

[/edit] However, I think it's safe to say the other shows by Matt Groening and Seth MacFarlane are much funnier than their predecessors. (Futurama and American Dad, respectively)

Guess it's possible for so many people like that to keep crap floating on air. Better than thinking that most people just don't have good taste.

Still don't know how they do it though, I can't even watch more than a minute of the new episodes.

Why? Uhh, money. What else? Fox isn't the brightest bulb in the world, but eventually they get the idea that money is good. Too bad they didn't give that a brain-teaser around other worthwhile projects.
