Sims 4 - first thoughts

I've been watching a few previews on youtube and although I like the visuals... is it just me or are worlds drastically smaller? Like, Simcity smaller.

You can't walk from your house (next to the park) to the park, without a loading screen because the game now only loads one small area (1-5 buildings it seems) at a time.

Will this have a big impact on the way you play? I remember the load between neighborhoods on Simcity drove me mad and had me quitting even without the server issues.

Some other thread here has a list of feature in 2/3 missing from 4. There's around 80, shrunken lot sizes and no open world are two of them.

If you want sheer gameplay, sims 2 has the most variety; if you want looks 3 still holds up quite well. Like most of EA's franchise titles, 4 is a rushed, superficial facelift that sacrificed content in order to make it out the door on time.
