I've been trying to limit the games I play this month to horror games, creepy games, surreal games, etc. It just seems like the kind of thing to do since we're technically through the Holiday Season threshold ya know? So I was curious if any of my fellow Escapists have any rituals, habits or traditional gaming, reading or, viewing material considering the time of year.

It doesn't even have to be Halloween/Autumn themed of course. This is really the first year I've tried to stick to scary games and I'm already kind of failing (the last game I played was Skyrim with Beneath a Steel Sky right before...Alice 2 before that though). Generally during the later part of October I find end up just watching Nightmare Before Christmas and gorging on candy. I bust out Nightmare Before Christmas again in December as well as the Invader Zim X-Mas episode. Of course there are also the stop-motion X-Mas specials which are on the air all December too but those are unavoidable.

So again: have any of you guys got any traditions associated with this season, the next season or, the last?

I do a "31 Days of Horror Reviews" thing. I make sure to save enough horror movie reviews so that I can post one for each day in October. This is year #2 of that tradition (so does it count as a "tradition" yet? XD).

Eeh. My country doesn't exactly celebrate Halloween, so we don't get trick or treaters and stuff like that. The most we get is some "scary" movie on TV.

So no, not planning anything.

I might break out the Sorcerer Mickey [http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111118052111/disney/images/d/d8/Fantasia-disneyscreencaps.com-2363.jpg] costume I made last year and wear it around campus, but otherwise I spend a lot of my October taking pictures more than anything else. Fall is pretty in Missouri, and October tends to be the prettiest part of the transition between summer and winter. So I run around taking pictures of every tree, cloud, and otherwise interesting thing I see. Also, I break out all my fall clothes (sweaters, turtlenecks, scarves, etc) and proudly wear them, all the way through winter really (because I just love fall colors so much, and I don't have enough money to have a separate fall AND winter wardrobe).

I might end up seeing a scary movie with some friends, and I've been compelled to replay Amnesia: The Dark Descent as of late, but otherwise I don't actively seek out too much Halloween media (though I'll probably get around to watching the Nightmare Before Christmas before too long).

It's a really good costume! It also reminds me that I wanted to try dressing as Chernabog...Also I agree about Autumn being the most beautiful/photogenic of the four seasons. I love the way snow looks but winter doesn't necessarily guarantee snow where I am whereas Autumn is always golden/orange and, beautiful...also pumpkin flavored.

I try to watch lots of Halloween cartoons and kids movies. Nightmare before Christmas, Coraline, Scary Godmother, and then Halloween episodes of Spongebob, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, and...well lots of other cartoons that I can't think of, always make me happy. ^_^

I do the same thing for Christmas.

For some reason I just always love holiday themed shows. They're just a lot more fun I think.
