Do any other escapist users sing when no one's around to hear them?
Yep, I often mutter/sing the only 2 or 3 verses I can remember of whatever song just got stuck in my head... and sometimes I drive myself nuts with it.

How do you think you sound?
Not really good. It got better since I picked up an instrument and started to train my ears, so now I sometimes even hit the notes, but I lack vocal range. I don't even have a full octave, so most songs have at least one part where it gets too high or low and I end with a choked croak.

What's your favorite song/group to sing to?
Dr. Horrible's sing-along-blog, especially On the Rise, the first song of Act II.

Would you actually be willing to sing in front of an audience?
Hell no!

Whoa! I see that as a direct challenge to my boringness! We have to settle this with a bore-off! Round 1: Stare at a grey wall.

Would you actually be willing to sing in front of an audience? Not asking this one for any particular reason, just wondering if anyone's confident/shameless/drunk enough to actually do that.

Let's hear some of your musically inclined confessions.
Yes. I sing to myself, and I'm fairly sure most people sing to themselves.

I sound shit and I know it.

Assorted rock/metal songs with ACTUAL LYRICS.

Disturbed probably.

FUCK NO! I'm far too shy for that.

Do any other escapist users sing when no one's around to hear them?

Yup, only when no one's around. Or when I'm certain my singing will be drowned out by another noise.

How do you think you sound?

I think I sound okay, I mean I can sing in tune, but I wouldn't say my voice is pretty. It lacks vibrato.

What's your favorite song/group to sing to?

It really depends on what day it is and what I've been listening to recently. 'Come Home' by Lexia and 'I Wouldn't Mind' by He Is We are quite popular with me, though.

Uhh, doubt it. I have done, in the past, but I was rather drunk (and am in no great hurry to repeat that occurrence).

I sing all the time, just randomly thinking of music and beats when I'm doing something. Of course it's all garbage, though, my voice is terrible.

"Hanging the towel, ON DA WALL!"

How are lyrics like that even supposed to have musical value? If people listened to me, they'd be incredibly fearful for my sanity.

And now I've started humming a random tune.

I'm always singing >.< in front of people or not. Usually what song I'm listening to or which ones stuck in my head at the time.
I sound like a cat being strangled but singing makes me happy so I do it anyway. Especially when I'm feeling awkward.
I have sung in front of a crowd before, they've never been impressed :p

I sing all the time, I love to sing!

I think I sound all right *shrug* I've gotten compliments and a few admonishments along the lines of, "Why aren't you in a choir?" I'd love have singing lessons to become better and more confident though.

I'll sing to anything I like really. I do wish MoS's Sweet L.A. was kinder to my range - or what ever you call it - because I love that song. But then I have never been trained, and I have no natural instincts when it comes to singing IMO.

I have sung in front of people - two funerals among them - but I have the worst stage fright ever so it's a challenge every time =(

EDIT: LIke a lot of others here I also make up nonsense songs. "Aaaaalmost put the chocolate powder in the friiiiidge, if someone saaaaw me I would criiiiiiiinge!" Yeah, I suck at rhyming =P

Honestly, I dont think im bad, I'm just not that good either

What's your favorite song/group to sing to?
Generally i just mangle some power metal or clean vocal rock

Well me and a group of friends, while drunk do tend to start singing acappela covers of metal songs, and of course drinking songs, have been chucked out of a number of pubs due to unexpected renditions of Wild rover, and what do you do with a drunken sailor.

In order: All the damn time.
Extremely average.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, mostly. But lately there's been a lot of Miracle of Sound thrown in. But staying in line with RHCP, singing the chorus of this song has lately helped me cope with loneliness in the wake of my failed relationship:

Like I said, y'know I'm almost dead, y'know I'm almost gone...
And when the drummer drums, he's gonna play my song to carry me along.
Like I said, y'know I'm almost dead, y'know I'm almost gone...
And when the boatman comes to ferry me away to where we all belong.

The last thing I sung for an audience was Amateur Transplant's Paedophile Song in my year nine music class. The look on the teacher's face as she had no valid grounds to stop me made it so worth it.

Do any other escapist users sing when no one's around to hear them?
Always. Whenever I play music on the computer I sing along.

How do you think you sound?
I think I sound more than decent. Been at it for many, many years now. The tune might not always be spot on, but it's close enough.

What's your favorite song/group to sing to?
If I burst into song in the shower I usually go with Dia Psalma or M.I.D. Both Swedish trallpunk bands, so I doubt many here knows them.

When I'm drunk at parties I often sing a lot. Also recorded plenty of songs with some friends, so I sang in front of them. Wasn't clean song then though, but harsh vocals. Wouldn't dare do it sober and in front of a big audience though.

www.myspace.com/wentbad if you're intrested in my three years+ old recordings. They're pretty awful, tbh. I'm quite fond of the two first songs though.

I sing to myself when nobody's around. My boyfriend likes my voice, but I'm afraid of singing in front of anybody else.

Eh, usually I only sing things like old hymns and stuff, really quietly. Mostly because I sing a really high soprano, so I annoy even myself when I don't have other voices to harmonize with. Would I sing to an audience? I have done karaoke once or twice...and depending on your view of audience, I do sing along at church, since pretty much everyone at my church sings.

"Do any other escapist users sing when no one's around to hear them?
Yes. It borders on being a problem because I practically have to consciously choose not to sing if I hear music by myself. I'm just lucky I can control it in public.

"How do you think you sound?"
Bad. And that is bordering on giving myself to much credit.

"What's your favorite song/group to sing to?"
All Time Low, if I have to pick. Although I have found myself singing the song "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" by The Offspring way too much.

"Would you actually be willing to sing in front of an audience? Not asking this one for any particular reason, just wondering if anyone's confident/shameless/drunk enough to actually do that."
Nope. I am far too full of myself to do something that shameless.

I sing all the goddamn time. Alone, in public, on the train, at work... I'm a choir boy.

Do any other escapist users sing when no one's around to hear them?

Yes

How do you think you sound?

Eh, I'm alright. People say I'm really good, but I'm alright. Above average, but not all that special.

What's your favorite song/group to sing to?

I can do a good Muse, James Blunt, Kamelot... Usually tenor stuff. I've got a higher register, and a really good falsetto.

Would you actually be willing to sing in front of an audience? Not asking this one for any particular reason, just wondering if anyone's confident/shameless/drunk enough to actually do that.

Absolutely.

I go to Karaoke most Wednesdays and usually sing a song or two, and I generally sing along to whatever is in my car (which lately has been my wonderful CDs from The Escapist's own Miracle of Sound)

Yes. All the time, every day.
I think I sound pretty alright. I've had some training, and some people who've heard me sing say I sound pretty good.
Whatever I feel like, really. Usually showtunes.
Yes. In fact, I already have. I sang in the school choir for 6 years and had a lead role in my high school production of Les Miserables. That was 4 years ago, though. I kinda fell off the wagon after graduating. People told me I should continue with working in musicals, but I felt it was weird being an amateur alongside professionals.

The only time I can really sing is when I'm by myself. I think my favorite stuff to sing to is Journey. Or The Doors. I think I can sing alright but I freeze up when other people are around. I don't know if I could sing for an audience but I have thought about it. My favorite time to sing is when I'm driving. Another important thing to note: I find it incredibly difficult to sing unless I'm singing along with something. If I don't have something to copy, my voice is garbage

I do all the time, if I am not singing, it is because I am depressed or busy.
I think I sound like shite (With a face (I believe) that makes John Merrick look like Brad Pitt.)
Electric Light Orchestra, Fav. Group, Favorite Song, Anything that has a nice sound to it, I am not picky.
I have many times. Three times for High School Plays, Twice on Stage, Three Graduations (I attended two others, plus my own), and last year for a play.

It can be fun, in fact, it almost always is fun.
