Well, I don't know anyone who actually expected it and I really would like someone to give me a brief summary on the game...
But it looks alright.

I got it yesterday and so far so good. It borrows heavily off of other fps games, but in general it's actually very good. IGN gave it an 8/10 I think? Which is very respectable for a game with absolutely zero publicity.

Thanks for the PM. I've also just read about it on Wikipedia.
Seems a lot like Timeshift but with Soviets. And that's pretty good.
So, yeah, it seems quite interesting.

I just started playing it--and after not even 10 minutes in I proclaimed that I am somewhat in love.

It feels as though someone took Bioshock (the artistic flair and mood), mashed it up with the original F.E.A.R (game-play feel) and then sprinkled Half Life onto it.

While the story doesn't lend itself to originality (at least not from where I am standing), it's interestingly enough told so far that I would really like to know more.

I thought it didn't come out until the 29th.

Edit: Oh. just did about 30 seconds of research and found out it came out the 25th in the UK.

It is good, but yeah, it rips-off a lot of games, like, a lot. It even rips-off Borderlands, which, in turn, ripped-off just about every FPS (and RPG) of the last 10 years.

Don't get it for the PC.

Sound doesn't work properly.

The first game I have seen that requires the user to ALT-TAB out of the program, go to the sound mixer and bump up the sound volume to max every-time you start the game.

If you got Vista..good luck getting sound to work at all.

the game looks like they made it for the consoles then ported it to the PC.

I played and beat it, and found it rather fun. Gunplay is solid, the TMD is a fun toy to use, and story is alright for the most part. The game also has some great set peices and the Seeker weapon is fucking win. Those damn phase ticks are annoying as hell though, think flood infection forms but faster and do more damage.

The game isn't perfect, but it's ultimately a solid game and rather fun to play. I haven't gotten any of these technical issues some others have complained about, game has ran flawlessly on my computer. Although after beating the game, I have this lingering feeling that the game ultimately feels held back, and that its full potential was no realized. There is just something about the game I can't pin point that keeps held back and not ascend to levels of greatness.

But overall I still had fun with the game more so than most other FPSs of late that just feel interchangeable.

Reviving a dead thread here....

I've beat Singularity, and I really, really liked it. It doesn't do anything particularly new, but it just feels solid as hell. I never got bored with the gunplay, the upgrades were nice and help beef up the gameplay, the story was rather well told (even if Bioshock told it better), and the world that Raven created was impressive. The story was probably my favorite part with the interesting twists and plot developments at the begging and end. It's too bad it didn't get a lot of publicity. Game Informer had this on their cover as a game reveal (I don't remember which issue), and Activision had a playable demo on Comic-con's show floor last year.

It is a solid game. The TMD is a nice toy, though the developers obviously ran out of possibilities for applications, so i gets a little repetetive. The gunplay is allright, but nothing special. The Seeker-Rifle is a nice weapon, but nothing new (see Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on the N64). The game looks and plays a lot like bioshock. It has tons of audiologs that can get quite boring/annoying after a time. The story is o.k., the game has three endings, but not a great re-play value, because you can access all endings with a simple savegame before the final confrontation.
