Before I start, I already used the search bar. I didn't find one that quite matched what I was looking for. Explain a situation that you went through (plz no lies) and a song that best describes how you felt then (or now).

I went through an angry/depressed emo phase in high school and I feel "Down With The Sickness" by Disturbed matches that. Also "Home" by 3 Days Grace

I went through a very bitter divorce and felt like "Gives you hell" by All-American Rejects best matches that.

While I went through a drug and alcohol addiction 3 Days Grace summed it up with "Pain" and "It's All Over" by 3DG

I went through a period where I was ending my addictions to drugs and alcohol and feel "Sober" by Pink matches that best...except I'm a guy. Also, "Get Out Alive" by, you guessed it, 3DG

So, fellow escapists, what would you say?

EDIT: I should probably find songs that match my happier moments...hmm. Oh, "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows and "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed is my right now...except my daughter has already been born...you probably knew that by my pic tho. Honestly, I'm amazed at how well things have turned out.

Artists tend to make songs based upon their own lives and experiences, so it's not surprising that someone has gone through what you're going through and made a song about it.

As for a song that explains a moment in my life...

Lets just go with this song, for the general mindset that I enjoy going into every now and again.

Yeah, I know. I'm just wondering what songs best express those experienced by my fellow escapists, kind of a social experiment I guess. I'm going to bed now and will check on this thread when I wake up.

When I was in high school and was experiencing the angst that goes along with that period, Nirvana's In Utero was my personal soundtrack - the lyrics are non-sensical at times, true, but the emotion conveyed in those 12 songs was unlike anything I'd ever heard; raw, unfiltered, genuine. At the time, it spoke to me more than any other album ever had, and I still consider it one of the best albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.
