Skating games

I realized today that there has never been a skateboarding game that has held my interest at all. I can't imagine how anyone would be entertained by them. What exactly is their appeal?

I loved Tony Hawk 2 and 3. The stunts you could pull off were super crazy and the gameplay was very good. I never tried actual skateboarding nor am I interested in skateboarding in general but those two games were just fun IMO.

Only played THPS3 intensely, loved it.
Tried THPS4, didn't like it.

Recently tried American Wasteland, and it's just sad how boring the series has gotten...

I agree with djeeten. Tony Hawk Underground 2 (the only one I finished) was fun. Skating doesn't appeal to me, but I liked it because it was different from going around shooting people/going around doing quests and it was comical to see the character nose diving into the pavement, getting hit in the crotch, etc.

Looks like I have low standards.
