I find that whenever I post, people reply again and again to my comments without actually reading them properly. For example, when I posted on a site about problems with my HEADSET SOUND coming out of my microphone, people kept saying that I should buy a noise-cancelling mic to get rid of SPEAKER noise. Skimreaders also misread things, reply violently to things that are not supposed to be violent, and generally annoy the shit out of me as I have to clarify time and time again what I'm getting at.
Any thoughts?

who's going to be hilariously ironic first?

people only skim read when the first post is too long. what you've written isn't too long and doesn't take long to read but when yiu get posts that take 5-10 minutes to read people go 'er, no'. don't know how long your post about your broken headphones was but always remember, generally, people are lazy.

Geeze you dropped the ball, the first post should have mentioned something about being hilariously ironic.

Breaking your post up in small sections is also a good way to keep peoples' attention.

Yes, I skimmed your post.

it was too obvious, that's why i didn't do it. everyone will probably have the exact same thought about being ironic thinking they are the only person to have that thought, so i decided to just post properly and let everyone else do it.

It was seven lines. If people lack the ability to read long posts, they shouldn't post back.

that's bordering on too long for most people. yes, if they don't read it all they shouldn't post but people want to be helpful (especially when it's something they actually know about) so post anyway, despite not having read it all to get the full picture. there have been times when i've gone into a thread, the first post has been really long and i've gone straight back out again. best keep to around 5 lines, less if possible so that impatient people will read it all.

Oh! Congratulations. You're officially the first person to think they're being humorously ironic whilst everyone else realises that EVERYONE had that thought.

Try using paagraphs and spoiler tags more. It can break up an article nicely and make it less of a strain on the eyes.
With me, if i think its worth reading, i'll read the entire thing. I just dont have it in me to skim read.

I see your point. But if it's something complex you're trying to explain and someone just skims over it then comes out with a directly wrong answer, e.g. if you're having problems starting games due to your graphics driver being out of date and you post near the end "The download doesn't work.", then someone replies "dwnld it lol retrd nub faget", it gets immensely infuriating.

I didn't know what the tag for spoilers was, so I put in huge capitals "SPOILER, SPOILER, DON'T READ, SPOILER SPOILER!".

I was then crucified for not putting a tag with one person saying "You've been here two years now". It's REALLY my fault they're too lazy to read one sentence!

excuse me?, I come to these forums to get away from the whole internet one up man ship and crappy insults that aren't really thought out, would you mind stopping that?.

lets dissect the transcript shall we?
You do a skim read thread
PureChaos states the obvious
I compliment him, because of the excellent execution of how he done the obvious, now I'm fully aware of the irony in my post, your whole thread reaks of it.
You make a not very well thought out reply that any sheep would do on Kotaku or chan or anyother place on the internet.

you should probably buy a noise-cancelling mic to get rid of speaker noise.

ok seriously, i generally don't skim read but if there's like a wall of text i just don't bother at all. so i think maybe learning to skim read would be helpful...

It was simply the fact that you stated that you hadn't even read the post, making everything you say completely unrelated to the subject at hand. You may as well make your own topic if you're not going to read others.
