(In case you don't know 'Skins' is a drama series based in Bristol(UK) shown on E4 on British television, it follows the lives of several 16-18 year old college students.)
Now that series 3 has come to its conclusion it's safe to start comparing it to the previous two series', something most people (myself included) started doing during the first episode, or even judging it by itself.
The two main points I think to discuss are: Characters and their casting, and Storyline.
As a good if somewhat easy starting point I'll give my opinion on Cook. I hated him as much as I'd enjoyed the character of Tony in the first series. Both are complete arseholes but they differ so much. Where Tony seems to be in complete control and bring an element of style to delivering suffering to other people's lives, Cook's actions were rash, crass, and just plain dumb. And while Tony receives a major comeuppance for his way of life, Cook rides off into the sunset with a few scratches and his best friends by his side. This just seems a bit weird for a series that seems to always show the gritty downside of being a prick.
While nothing can compete storyline wise with what happens to Chris in the second series I thought there were some really good plot-lines running through this series. I really enjoyed the Emily and Naomi storyline and not just for the softcore lesbian sex. Also the Freddie episode with his sister in the Sexbomb competition was a great parody of the wave of shit reality TV we have at the moment, this was made even funnier when I saw Scott Mills on 'Paris Hilton's New British Best Friend'.
So what did you think of the third series of 'Skins'?
