What are you guys hoping to see in Bioshock: Infinite?

In case anyone hasn't seen the (very scripted looking) gameplay clip yet, here it is in all its glory:

Personally I'm hoping for an overhaul to the combat.

Bioshock 1 and 2 were not strong shooters in my opinion. B1 was clunky and awkward and B2 had those annoying 'Protect the sister from a bunch of enemies as the frame rate falls apart' elements.

The new location is, I think, a great move as Rapture seemed far less mysterious and impressive the second time around. I am hoping that it's kind of open and you can go where you like when you like, as you could in B1.

And finally... I really, really hope we don't have to protect Elisabeth.

Share your thoughts and tell us what you want to see.

Well judging from the gameplay, it looks like we'll be able to use plasmids (electro bolt specifically) a WHOLE LOT more often, which I'm really looking forward to. I HATED running out of EVE, because the gun combat was never particularly exciting. I'm also hoping there will be less emphasis on fighting huge groups, and instead more on running away. Maybe even a stealth section of the game? That'd be great.

Oh, and mech battles. Everything is better with mechs.

Yeah that would be fun. And more tactical battles with better AI.

And no goddamn blurring of the screen when you get shot.

Oh, yeah. That was quite annoying. Definitely, more tactical gameplay rather than just draining of ammo & eve. That's what I'm hoping for.

"And finally... I really, really hope we don't have to protect Elisabeth."

I think Ken Levine has already said that we don't.

OT: An actual story.

BioShock's story pops up for the twist, and that's it. Sure, it's got some interesting themes, the lore is probably fairly deep and the backstory is nicely conveyed through the audio tapes and the environment, but it's actual plot is hugely lacking.

Half-Life 2, which also hints at what's happened to the world and why the Combine are there through the environment, also has a plot, and characters that feel real.

Also, they have to do that bit from the trailer where he falls on to the balloon - that'd be great.

(And probably make me feel more sick than the air-tube-things in Crysis, on the alien ship).

Saw that trailer ages ago...On the day in launched.

Why did you get my hopes up for a new trailer, Miracle? WHY?!

Nothing in particular that I want. I have 100% faith in the developers to make it awesome. This is a rare thing for me, you see.

They know what I'll want, before I even want it.

Yeah I agree, the backstory and environmental storytelling is amazing but the actual gameplay side of the story and Jack's little tale is basically 'Walk around kill everything do what everyone tells you discover twist keep killing everything anyway then kill person who told you to kill everything'

I'm trying to remember how you felt about Bioshock 2, I take it you enjoyed it?

Quite a bit. Even the multiplayer. The game itself was a lag-fest, but if I found a good match connection, I stayed for awhile. Eventually, I got sick of hunting around for good matches, and it got harder as the population dwindled. Stopped playing...

This is the original developer, though, and my faith in them is as strong as ever.

I doubt the combat will improve that much. As long as the atmosphere makes up for it like it did in Bioshock 1, I'll be happy with it.
Judging from that video, I expect we won't be disappointed with the atmosphere side of things.

As a massive fan of Bioshock, I agree with your points regarding it being a fairly weak shooter. I'd not of had much fun with it if it weren't for the atmosphere.

To Woodsey, I agree that the actual plot was lacking, but I felt that Jack's story had to take a back-seat to discovering the story of the city itself. It worked for me anyway. In terms of symbolism, meaning and pure narrative I think the first Bioshock is unmatched though.

In Infinite I'd just like the actual gameplay to be brought up to some of the tighter shooters out there (Bioshock always felt very loose and inaccurate in its control), some memorable set-pieces, some strong boss-battles and most of all a rich and deep narrative for me to pick at for months. =D

I'm with the talented musician on this one, the moment I fought Steinberg in BioShock 1 really ruined it for me, it made me realise that the tactile feedback you get when shooting an enemy is that they shrug their shoulders.

After that I was like, so the trick is the recoil of "gun goes up ... always"
so shoot down,
gun goes up
enemy shrugs shoulders
enemy dies

I'm siding with cautious optimism with "Sky-Oshock", I really want it to be good because well who doesn't want a good game?, its just I've been spoilt by KillZone 2 and Painkiller in terms of tactile responsiveness of weapons.

No doubt the story will be genius, Ken Levine hasn't let us down on that ever.

A large more freely explorable area since the scenery is just beautiful, at least a few more open areas, I accept being free roam would detract from it. Finally make the gun play a lot more fluid, I loved the style and feel of the guns but actual combat with them was a messy and cumbersome affair.
