Skylanders doesn't deserve ALL the hate it's getting

Granted the whole, having to go out and buy more crap just to unlock the rest of the content you just already paid $70 is pretty bad, I feel like if activision took it in a different direction, maybe unlock the content as you play the game, skylanders would be a fun little distraction, I've played it, and it is fun, each character feels new and are designed well, its like Gauntlet had a baby with your favorite saturday morning cartoon.
The addition of spyro to me just feels weird too, you could take every single thing spyro related out of this game and it could stand on it's own merit. all in all, skylanders is fun, it's just not practical, if activision took a step back, got rid of spyro and all the merchandise, I feel like this game could've been really really good. Instead activision decided to make this a total cash grab and we're forced to settle for average due to stupid crap weighing it down. 7/10

But I genuinely believe that the collectable heroes are awesome.

I'm sure it is a decent game, but it still bothers me to no end the way they redesigned Spyro. He had such a unique look and silhouette, which is pretty hard to attain with how many dragons are on the market. Now he just looks interchangeable with anything out of How to Train Your Dragon.
