Good job on unbiased and professional journalism. Brb, need to wipe my keyboard, just spilled sarcasm all over it.
you clearly don't understand how journalism works. None of it is unbiased, the escapist just doesn't try try to hide it.
Not a single bit of human interaction is unbiased if you wanna play it that way, but splitting hairs aside, professional journalists do TRY to be unbiased. Escapist on the other hand, is as far removed from real journalism as one can be, the goal not being informing the public, but presenting the articles in whatever light gives them the most views and traffic, even when it comes down to blatantly lying, pulling quotes out of context (see a Chalky original right up there for an example of some of his fine work) and just generally presenting facts in the worst possible way if it suits their needs.

They might as well rename The News Room to Blogs.

Oh. Look at that, I got a 20 fps boost in Whiterun and Markarth from this beta patch. Awesome.

Bugs don't bother me too much. Yes, I did run into one where Vilkas wouldn't follow me to the Tomb for his Purity quest, but I managed to fix that by doing some research.

Still, I'll wait for it to be out of beta thanks. I don't need to get a corrupted save file...again.

Bugs? Oh, you mean the insects in a jar? No? I is confused, then.

Seriously, I haven't run into anything game-breaking beyond what I could attribute to me installing higher-quality texture packs without checking to see if my rig could handle the extra effort. That's cost me a couple CTDs, at best. The only Bethesda game I've had serious trouble with was the Lookout Point DLC for Fallout 3. Damn thing crashed every five seconds.

As for New Vegas, the odd thing was that while I got my copy through Amazon, I found that some of the pirate versions of the updates issued for the game were *more* stable than the standard update releases. Odd. Never thought I'd end up on a Torrent tracker to fix problems on a paid-for product.

Installed.

Got MASSIVE performance gains! :)

Also got lots of weird new bugs. :(

Go Bethesda! Nobody makes bugs quite like you guys do.

BTW has anyone here ever heard of a beta version of a patch (!) being released to the public before? Sounds to me like something only Bethesda could dream up...

Any word on the PS3 patch? I just restarted the game and wonder if I'll hit the critical lag before the patch is finally released.

That's right, members of the supposedly master race can beta test for the True Console Champions. Test Monkeys Test and Betheseda might give you a Creation Kit Favoured Banana
But I like bananas...

I am the only person in the universe who has never had a single bug in a single Bethesda game. It makes everyone seem so crazy.
I hear about all these bugs, but I've only ran into one and that was partly my fault...

"oooh, I wonder if I can squeeze into the back of there, maybe theres a hidden chest..."

*Gets stuck in between two rocks and a low ceiling*

"Feck, I haven't saved since I entered this damned cave"

But other than that one (which is less of a bug and more because of the retarded player) I haven't run into any.
I once manged to fall behind a waterfall and die falling into the water. Because apparently you can't, like, GRAB THE LEDGE, you just automatically fall if you step where the developers didn't want you to step.

cant wait for the kit to get released Im hoping that someone remakes all the old elder scrolls games with it.

As for all these people who have never heard of a beta release of a patch being released to the public have probably never played WOW where every patch had a beta and as such all content was beat before it ever got to live servers.

And yet you're still here.
Hey, Andy, thats low content, stop breaking rules!
OT: I'm happy with my version of skyrim.
And I have not encountered a SIGNLE bug, so you people must not be doing something correctly.

Apparently Bethesda took the advice of a modder called Asiru and included a compiler in this patch. The result is apparently a double in FPS.
Arisu's actual mod to fix this issue only raised FPS in certain areas, because all it's actually doing is fixing bottlenecking issues. Unless Bethesda somehow found bottlenecks everywhere this wouldn't be the case. Running TESVAL or SkyBoost would make this part of the patch mostly pointless anyway, since they already fix this. (Unless the Bethesda version makes more difference)

Also I think you are talking about compiler optimisation settings, since including "a compiler" with the patch would be more than a little odd...

As a frustrated PS3 owner, allow me to point out that this will be a HUGE setback to all fans of interactive slideshows. I'm sure that fans of moonwalking dragons will also risk disappointment.

Get on it beth, chop chop!

Thanks!
Watch out that seems like a low content post, you might get a warning :p

Im on the 360 and I havent downloaded any patches yet. My game works fine and im not planning to download any patches until I get a confirmation that the patch is absolutely safe. The only other thing that might get me to download them is if the DLC requires them

Thank goodness they're fixing that werewolf issue! My character has no werewolf abilities at all, but NPCs, lack of resting bonus and my 'days as werewolf' counter stats seem to disagree. Hopefully it will solve that issue then and there, so I won't be stuck like that forever.

So they have a unfinished patch on a finished game.

How does that work?
Badly.

On the plus side, I do get a lovely high frame rate on the loading screen. On the down side, I don't actually like the loading screen that much, so it would be nice if the rest of the game actually fucking worked now. Another patch, another utter failure for Bethesda. Just release the damn construction set and let someone competent fix the game already.
