I have about 400 hours (Probably played ~200 in total because I mod, and/or keep it minimized a lot).. but yea, I've played at a minimum of 200 hours of actual game-time, and I have literally not completed 50% of the main quest, have not completed any of the major guild factions, and have not had a character at 50 yet, and I've played since 11/11/11 off and on.

I've gone through about 4 characters. Most of the time, what causes me to restart is joining the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild, and then getting put off from the fact that I commit so much evil in game that it doesn't make any sense for my character to continue as a savior.

Right now, I'm level 25 with a "pure" character who hasn't stolen so much as a sweetroll and hasn't murdered anyone that wasn't in self-defense. I will not join the Thieves Guild, and I will not join the Dark Brotherhood. I'm into Dawnguard at the moment and decided to ally against the Volkihar. I can't continue the main quest due to mods (211 mods) making the game too difficult to defeat any of the dragons without exploiting mechanics.

So there I sit, slowly trying to make myself powerful enough to fight my foes. This should keep me going until at least Dragonborn.

Another case of 'if you can sum up your rambling with a TLDR, then just type the TLDR and stop wasting time'

Anyways, I'll say no don't wait for all the DLC to come out and get it in a bundle. I say that because no doubt in that kind of bundle they will throw in crap like Hearthfire and other crap they release like it.
There was nothing wrong with the OP's post. It was concise, and didn't really need a TL;DR tbh. Your response was longer than the TL;DR, lol.

I'd wait for it all to be released.
How to stay interested in your character though?
Mod. Seriously, its about the only way. There isn't much unique stuff to vanilla Skyrim that you'll run into after your first 100 hours, unless of course you run around doing radial quests rather than any story/guild/civil war/town/other premade quests, and if you've played it before its not all that interesting to play again - its main appeal is in the exploration, and you've already explored everything.
Modding, however, changes things. With mods combat actually becomes enjoyable, and can be used as a time waster. You can find new areas and dugeons to explore, new enemy types, new people to talk to. Crafting might be reworked to be balanced, and Dragons might, for once, be made intelligent so that they're not cannon fodder, and hunting them becomes a challenging and enjoyable pass time. You could have new weapons, books, gameplay systems, quests - basically anything. And, if you can't find what you want, you can pick up the Creation Kit and start making it instead.

Of course, this does require you to be playing the PC version of the game. If you want a time consuming challenge on the console version, you're probably going to have to do something kinda boring like making a library with exactly 1 copy of every book in the game in it, or clearing every single dungeon in the game in one playthrough.

Yea, it is literally the only way post 100hrs. I couldn't even think about going back to vanilla, let alone console vanilla after everything I've seen in the modding community. Some of my favorites are survival mods like Frostfall Hypothermia, which does what it suggests, makes cold weather dangerous and frigid water deadly. You need to bundle up, and/or make sure you have a "fire kit" with you at all times so you can camp out and warm up. It's more interesting if you don't use fast travel...

Of course, you need a Food/Drink/Sleep mod to go with that, so you camp out and then hunt for sustenance to maintain your stamina etc.

I think he's probably playing on PC, he gave an exact 'time-played'... I'm not sure if either console lists your hours? Not sure. Either way, extending time on console would get boring. I'm not trying to be elitist, I'm just saying..

It'd definitely be better to wait for all of the DLC. I've not gotten into any of the DLC myself mostly because I'm broke (even if I wasn't, I'm definitely not paying $20 for Dawngaurd), but also because I've just not had any desire to play Skyrim recently.

hard to say. there are definite advantages to getting all the dlc at once but its hard to keep the interest up if you have to wait months for them to finish all the releases.
i know, thats what im stuck on, and my mate playing skyrim now isnt helping =P guess il just see if she is still playing or something (ya know trading storys and what not)

fixed. lol

OP: I have yet to download any of DLC, and still enjoy the game just fine. For me, playing with more than one character at a time is the key to keeping things interesting. I've got 7, each with a unique backstory and play style, and will likely top off at 10 to cover all races. If you're worried about getting bored in Skyrim, maybe adjust your play style, like role-playing more thoroughly or creating arbitrary nuance and restrictions for a character (e.g. with the exception of the beginning or dungeons, my Argonian, Caliban, never strays more than 100 meters from water and is unable to use the map or fast travel).

Of course, you could always put the game down and try something else for awhile. It's nice to come back after a break.
