I read somewhere they were part of a collector quest that was left out in the final product.

It was further deduced that collecting them all would give you the title - Jarl.
Jarl? Of which city?

That would be cool.

Also, I really hope this turns into something, it would be hilarious.
No, no, I meant Jarl as in you collected all the jars- [sub]because all the insects are kept in jars- [sub]and when you coll- oh never mind...[/sub][/sub]

Stop necroing and exposing my punmanship! I've been pun-free for 3 months and running, it's all just the thing of the past I swear!

I think it could be possible that people may be overlooking things about these jars. I have a feeling that it has something to do with either a hidden Thuum or possibly a way to awaken more dragons...as it does seem the symbols are in dragon tongue. Unless it is a console code or as others said quest items for DLC. Than again it could just be initials of the game developers for all I know.

if you look at the words on the bottom of the lids they are actually ruins from the book the hobbit. so i think that this is a easter egg towards the hobbit which started the whole comotion about dragons wizards and much much more.

I think i could decode the ruins quite eaisly im just trying to find a list of the words on the lids of all the jars
so for now i will wait and thats my theory tell me if you think its plausiable...............
