Eventually, yes.

Also, if possible, get the PC version. Mods FTW.

TL;DR: Do you think there will be a Skyrim GOTY edition?

Pretty sure there will be, all of the predecessors had it.
Yes, but all the predecessors were good.
And that's your opinion.

With selling 3.5 million units in 48 hours it will have an GOTY edition.
Sales does not equal GOTY, you do know how it works right?
Well, they could just do what they did with New Vegas, and call it the 'Ultimate Edition' or something similar if no GOTY awards come its way. I'm sure it will come out eventually with all DLC included in the box.
dude like 10,000 GOTY awards were given to it. 10,000 is exagerating but still there were a lot of GOTYs that came it's way.

Ah, true. For some reason I thought Skyrim had been released this year, not in 2011. You're quite right. In that case, it would be a GOTY edition, but they'll wait until all the major DLC packs have been released first. I would imagine it won't come out till mid 2013 at the earliest.

Probably, but after it's had more DLC. Only 2 DLCs isn't enough to justify a GOTYE
Now you're just the skyrim that I used to own.

Of course. If there's one thing Bethesda loves more than shipping incomplete games, it's making money.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that yes, it probably will win a lot of GOTY awards, but it's not my choice so far.
Honestly, I'm getting way more fun out of Borderlands 2 then I've ever gotten out of Skyrim. BL2 is everything you could possibly want in a sequel, building and perfecting, and in some cases stripping out, all of the features that made BL1 great whilst adding it's own charm and spin on the world.

We'll see how Assassin's Creed 3 fares, but honestly it's between that or Borderlands 2 at this point for me.

Yes, it's pretty much guaranteed to have a Game of the Year Edition eventually. If you're like me you won't buy it again because you'll just get bored of it. But of course if you're like me you never would have parted with a game to begin with.

Sure there will. Not before the planned DLC's are all out, so there may well be a wait still... Get it on PC if you can, the mods for it are incredible! Nothing wrong with playing it on a console I guess ( I use an xBox controller for my PC while playing it), and of course not everyone has a PC good enough for the game... But the mods... Oh the mods!
I somewhat agree with you. Mods do seem to make Bethesda games better, but mods aren't really worth getting it for PC if you can't run the game on full settings. Or at least that compared to the console versions.

I've always been on the belief that there is no point in buying a game for PC unless it can run smoother and look better than on console. And the mods for it are worth it (I got Just Cause 2 on PC siomply for the superman mod. That was glorious enough for me.).

Yes, it's inevitable.

Skyrim was super popular and Oblivion had a GOTY. It would be surprising if one weren't released in the coming years.

No they don't. This, [http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/03/08/skyrim-bags-another-game-of-the-year-award.aspx] on the other hand, does.

You do know how it works, right?
Yeah, I do know how it works, I never stated it wouldn't get a game of the year edition, and I never said that it didn't get any Game of year awards. All I said was that sales=/=game of the year edition. Maybe you should actually read my comment before you make smart ass remarks.

They will eventully release a GOTY edition but they will only do so after more DLC comes out as the Elder scroll games usaully have a lot.

If your not too interested then you should wait for GOTY edition however Skyrim it still pretty fun, it is however worst on the PS3, PC is the best platform for it due to the large amount of high quality mods.

I'd like to draw attention to the fact that not one, but two mods found fault with my clearly well thought out, long, intelligent and un-inflammatory comment as seen above, and consequently warned me twice.

I find this conduct appalling and would like some sort of recompense.

Justice, ho!

OT: Piddle.
