I loved Arena. Lost hours in Daggerfall (both from enjoyment and recovery from game-ending bugs), Battlespire never seemed to run right, but was still entertaining. Redwall had some control issues but the story was captivating. Morrowind was not as enjoyable. Oblivion also failed to really get my attention.

And we have Skyrim.

I like the world of Elder Scrolls, dig the lore. Doing my best to get the most out of the series.

Is everyone else out there stoked for the new Bethesda release and I'm the only one over here, wondering why there needs to be another in the series?

Another kick ass trailer will make me pretty happy. I'm looking forward to it very much, but then I only started playing with Oblivion

I'm a bit on the fence, but then again, I have yet to finish the main story quest in Oblivion. And I seriously need to start on the Shivering Isles. That shit be awesome apparently.

At least it ain't like the cash cow franchises. ( I won't name CoD this time, oh wait...)

Each game is getting better. I didn't like Oblivion that much, but I see potential in Skyrim... Potential to become the best in the series.

Do we really need another one? YES, unless you are gonna give me an alternative game. I need my RPG fix. Yes, I'm gonna try The Witcher 2. Point being: those type of games are rare.

Yes, we do need another one. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that a lot of people love Morrowind and Oblivion. Although the love for Oblivion is not as big. And judging by info released so far, it's going to be an Elder Scrolls Title, but the gameplay will be very different. Everything from leveling to fighting and just walking around. I don't know why wouldn't you want another TES game?

I dont see what the problem is.. Morrowind never did it for me either ill be honest, but tbf i never really gave it a chance... with the slow walk speed and dull environment (at least at the beginning) I couldnt bring myself to explore it after Oblivion..

Skyrim is stunning, fixes a lot of the niggles with Oblivion (still one of my favourite games of all time), and had dragons!

It's been about 5 / 6 years since Oblivion, so it's not like they're releasing a new slightly updated version every 12 months or so like madden or CoD

Yes, yes you are.

The Elder Scroll's games are amazing, why would you not want another to play? Oblivion was released in 2006 and people are still playing it. They are even still playing Morrowind. I'm confused as to why you wouldn't want more.

Confused I tells you!

Where's the point in creating the deep and interesting lore that the series has if you're not going to explore it?

Usually when discussion goes to Elder Scrolls, I have hard time saying anything positive.

I've lost hours upon hours on Morrowind and Oblivion, but I have to say that I despise the fact that Bethesda releases a completely fucking unfinished game, but with good editing tools, so players can fix their mistakes.

Morrowind and Oblivion are both shit without a crapload of mods after 5 - 10 hours of gameplay.

They both start spectacularly, everything feels possible and the world is in your hands. But then you notice that strong monsters can't spawn before you are certain level, or enemies level with you, or many skills are completely broken, dungeons are copy-pasted and there are gazillion of them (quantity over quality, much?) and countless and countless other issues which make the game just play like shit.

*phew*

But yes, the games are enjoyable with mods. But if you judge them on their own -like games should be judged-, I don't see how people can like them. Riddled with so many bad design choices it's mindblowing.

Edit: So basically, I'm not waiting Skyrim to do anything. It looks good, but then again, everything Bethesda makes always -looks- good. If Skyrim is good, great, if not, I can say I saw that coming :p

Because I already have played Oblivion and Morrowind to death and I'd like to see more Elder Scrolls. Unless it doesn't work out; then I will crawl back to Oblivion and beg her to take me back.

I'd say yes, it is about time for another one.

Seven titles across seventeen years is far better than what most games have managed.

Compare that to Call of Duty putting a game out every year, Final Fantasy having well over 20 games and two movies and I'd say Elder Scrolls is due for one without having smothered us.

The beauty of Bethesda games is if the game doesn't run quite how we want it, the community makes damn sure that gets fixed even if it has to do it itself. Although that may be isolated to PCs(or maybe not [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.278336-Bethesda-Wants-Skyrim-Mods-on-Consoles]).

Yes. Yes it is time for another one.

I can already tell it's going to be my Game of the Year for the next 3 years.

Never understood all the hate on Morrowind and Oblivion unmodded. I have prob over 200 hours easy on each game - both console and PC. I have played it unmodded and modded. IMO the games are some of the best single player RPG style games there are.

If you let yourself get wrapped into the lore and explore your character and not worry about min/maxing everything - or crafting the best suit or 100% chameleon armor

There just is a depth you rarely find in games these days.

Looking forward to Skyrim and I pray they don't dumb it down like video games designers are prone to do.
