Hey, publishers? Over here! Yep, look over here, please! See? Undeniable proof that a game can still be extremely popular even though it doesn't have some stupid deathmatch mode shoehorned into it. Crazy, I know, right?

Let's see 50+ Hours into the game haven't even touched the main quest past initial dragon fight.....and not ONE mudcrab which is weird 'cause I travel next to rivers if possible in case of random dragon attack.
That's weird. There's tons hanging around the smallish lakes and ponds outside Whiterun. Haven't explored everywhere yet (obviously - this place is f**king massive), but I know there's also a few outside of Solitude.
Thanks now I can proceed on the 'mudcarbicide'(the mass killing of mudcrabs) jeez i hope PETA doesn't try and boycott me for this lol

With the hype it generated from it's first trailer, no big surprise. I love the game, I've already clocked in over 50 hours and there is still much to do.
I also think one of the key factors in it's commercial success so far is that over the years Oblivion got cheaper and cheaper, drawing more and more people in, thus gaining more and more fan for the franchise. So naturally when SKyrim was released there were thousands of newer fans alongside all the old fans of the series. I should know, I'm one of those newer fans. I got into Skyrim when my brother bought it for PS3, I played the hell out of it, then I went back and played the hell out of Morrowind and Daggerfall too.

This is fantastic news, if only for the huge incentive to give us another Elder Scrolls game in some ~5 years. (One can hope!)

And yet I know at least two people who just stole it from the fokkin internet. They're my mates, but I really disliked that.

I am disappointed in Skyrim and have chosen to boycott it, since for the 3rd straight Elder Scrolls game Bethesda has failed to give us cloaks and capes!

...Really though I'm giving it a month for a PC patch or two to come out, though I am seriously disappointed that I can't have a cape. What kind of fantasy setting doesn't have capes? That's just lazy!
(No idea how to do spoilers so sorry) Nightingale Armour, it has a cape, be happy.

Two of my mates did that also, they played it for a few hours and then turned and bought it, was a good day :)

Oh, but I thought RPGs were dead. That's what BioWare said.

Please keep riding your money boat Bethesda.

inb4 people reading the title only and rushing here to post "EXCUSE ME BUT DAGGERFALL BEGS TO DIFFER"
eh, can't say I'm too affected by the news, as I didn't care for the game
Yeah but still, Skyrim is what 2% maybe at most 5% of the size of Daggerfall. Perhaps "best selling game ever" would have been more accurate. What do I know though, Daggerfall was the last Elder Scrolls game I enjoyed. I think I just got a little spoilt by RPGs with engaging stories and characters to enjoy Morrowind, or Oblivion. I'm not bothering with Skyrim until it is less than $20 on Steam.

Good for them, they deserve success for such a great release and such a great game.

No surprises here. If only I still had a working PC at home it would be 3.5 million and one.
And if their games worked at launch, it would be 3.5 million and two.
I hope that they are actually able to fix the crashing and framerate issues (the same ones they were not able to squash with the Fallout games) I've been hearing about (that I was assuming would be there) because I do want to pick this up eventually.
There's just no way I'm buying another $60 Beta from Bethesda.
I guess you haven't read the millions of forum posts across the internet about how the game barely ever crashes and is probably Bethesda's most stable release. I am 20+ hours in and have had no crashes on PC. I don't know of anyone that has encountered a serious glitch or hasn't been able to play the game yet.

I wonder if Fallout 4 will surpass these sales, If I'm not mistaken Fallout 3 outsold Oblivion.

I remember I once set myself on traversing Daggerfall from one corner to the other extreme
I got around half the way, got turned into a wereboar and disregarded my "mission"
too much fun killing ghosts as an argonian bear-man
as for TES5... eh, it's pretty alright

Yes, SKYRIM is my favourite game ever! It is however a shame that Bethesda care so little about us PC gamers. The port we received (after paying pretty much the same amount of money as the console versions) was appalling!
It should not be necessary to mod a AAA game on day 1 just to make it look and perform like a AAA game.
Shame on you, Bethesda!

Skyrim deserves every single one of those sales. And kudos to those crafty buggers at Steam, who've quite publicly dropped the price of Oblivion.

Am I the only one who is really impressed that it was able to make half of MW3's numbers? MW3 is the biggest entertainment launch ever, so for Skyrim to be half of that and "only" a single player RPG is really impressive.
