Skyrim Level cap

I had a revelation tonight. One that will probably cost me hours of productive rl time.

I looked up the Skyrim level cap.

I have been SO precious about my perk points in game. I am still on my first playthrough (work college and training kill my playtime) and am determined to perfect a heavy armour battlemage. Having got used to Fallout 3 and 'bliv, I was used to 20-30 being the cap. Now i know the cap goes up to the seventies, I AM FREE!

But to the point. Why didn't I know about this? Maybe it was in the computer game press, but i don't read it. Not in the tutorial, not in the manual; I had to get it from wikipedia. This is a seriously minor complaint, I fricking LOVE Skyrim, people at work hate me for talking about it too much, but i just wonder how I missed this.

Weak post? Blame cheap wine.

Yeah, I had to look it up myself. Max level is 81, making for 80 total perks.

But, in order to get that high, apparently you need to make out EVERYTHING.

But, that's just what I've read.

I don't really want to put any element of grind in Skyrim. Getting to the seventies seems torturous.

FYI, you can forge equipment that allows you to cast spells for free (without mana). You might want to take that into consideration.

The 'hard' level is 81 (because there aren't enough skills to increase it any more. Soyou get 80 perks which is really generous compared to the Fallouts. Sadly there aren't a lot of perks which change what you can do like in Fallout, they mostly just enhance what you can already do.

I had to look it up as well, for some reason i got the idea that level 50 was the cap. So I was freaking out when I neared that mark and paying so close attention to where I put my perks. Then I looked it up and did not worry anymore.

70's? I thought it was to 50. Eg, I'll probably get tired of Skyrim before level 70. Unless there's some very good DLC.

There isn't really a level cap. At level 81, all of your skills will be at 100, so it'll be impossible to level up further anyway. Leveling up does slow down after you pass level 50, though. What you need to be concerned about is your perks: you only have as many perks as you have levels, so be sure to use them carefully.

Yarp. It takes forever to gain a level at lvl 53, so I imagine everything must be maxed out to get to 81.
By that time, I will have more mana than I know what to do with, probably 500k gold, and this game will be my summon Atronach's *****.

Leveling up just takes longer starting at level 50.

What does "make out everything" mean?

I thought the game had endless quests, it isn't like BioWare games where the experience is limited is it?

Raj enjoys not being tied down. Having much time to learn all gives a real sense of freedom.

Wife Mjoll is glad to. Keeps me busy and out of her hair. But Mjoll forget, i like to pester her! Hehehe. Figure i'll learn potion making next! Swap out all Nordic Meads in house with Damage Intestinal Fortitude! Hard for her to kill Raj if cant leave outhouse!

But im glad most of all they are learning. People do not want restrictions! Good step forward in evolution of Scrolls! Err..... Mean "The Elder Scrolls". Not want lawsuit like time i teabag Jarl's daughter. Raj swear, she asked for it.

Heh, whoops. Max* out everything.

And that means the skills. Not the quests.

He means max out everything, as in you'd have to get 100 in 1-handed,2-handed,light armor, heavy armor,destruction,alteration,sneak,archery,etc...

Yeah the "hard" cap is 81. I use a mod that allows skill increase above 100 and after lvl 81 skill increases count so little toward the next level that the effective cap is level 81, 82 at the absolute most without completely cheating and/or going insane grinding.

50 is the "soft cap". Past 50, you need a lot more skill levels to level up. I got to level 56 myself with most of the game done. But, you hit the cap when all your skills are at 100.
