Skyrim on Rememberence Day

The 11th of November is Rememberence Day here in Canada, a holiday similar to Veterans Day and Armistice Day. In Canada, this is a statutory holiday. No stores are open in all but three or four Provinces of Canada.

Has a game ever been released on a statutory holiday where you live? Seems like quite a bit of an oversight on Bethesda's part to me. I mean, It's Canada, we're not exactly hard to miss on a map!

Oh, but there's a solution to that, my friend. We carpet-bomb America! With maple syrup cans because that's pretty much the only thing we've got! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, the *actual* solution to your conundrum is Amazon. Statutory holiday or no, you'll get your game. Just, more than likely on the 12th or 13th, not on release day. But, hey, it's a guaranteed copy!

We have Rememberance Day on the 11th here in the UK but it isn't a holiday...

It is a holiday, but is held on the Sunday after 11/11/11 or on the date if it turned out to be a Sunday.

Sundays are practically holidays anyway

I think some stores just open especially for big game releases, so I wouldn't worry about it. Though it might be different in Canada.

I live in Prince Edward Island (It's the province that on some maps you can't even bloody SEE.) I don't know about the rest of Atlantic Canada, but Nova Scotia has it as a statuatory holiday as well. I sound a little bit like a hick, but the big city provinces don't have the day off save for some governmental buildings if memory serves.

Yeah, I should have thought ahead and ordered it online. I've always been a little suspicous of that after the solid month it took me to get Fallout 3 GOTY from Amazon, but that was probably an odd case.

In the UK we just have a minute of silence to respect those who fought for our freedom, its not much but I feel that it is nice, ill probably stand on top of the tallest mountain in the game and do a minute of silence

i live in Scotland and i'm getting St Andrews day off...
though tbf, thats because the teachers are going on strike.

OT: it's a palindrome. yeah, Remembering the dead and all that but i am literally two feet from a pile of books about the war. i remember them every day.

You should check your local shop. In Belgium most if not all shops are closed but my local retailer is most likely selling it on Thurday according to their facebook page. Though they couldn't guarantee it was playable before Steam says so.

Plus our post doesn´t deliver anything on the weekend, so I´ll have to wait until monday for my pre order...

I'm so sorry, marketing really gets me passionate. In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure Bethesday just doesn't want to pass up on this date to release it's game, it's nothing personal.
