RIP Lydia. You survived dragons, giants and 4 fire mages in a cramped tunnel. Now missing presumed dead. (I had her standing by a forge to dump stuff on until I could get a house. I want my goddamn axe back.)

RIP Horses(numerous) Sorry about all the unseen canyons, sabrecats, shouts and dragons.

Lydia won't just wait around forever. If you leave her anywhere for too long, she will get bored and wander off. That, at least, is what happened when I parked her on the windy, snowy streets of Windhelm.

I thought I was rid of her until I bought a house in Whiterun and Lydia suddenly showed up there. You could try getting a house, if you want her back.

i have some more to add:
male mercenary- lost after joint wolf/bandit/spiders/sabre cat attack (presumed dead)
value of equipment lost ~10-15k (lots of named stuff)

female mercenary- lost after a joint dragon/twin frost troll attack (very dead)
value of equipment lost ~5k. But i also couldnt give her loot to carry so had to leave stuff

Due to this thread, I don't think I'll ever take Lydia out. She sounds like all she knows how to do is die in interesting ways.

Update: I accidentally killed an entire camp of people that I later figured out were part of a quest. Oops.

R.I.P. Male Mercenary, although I think you deserve it for attacking a mammoth and a giant while I was under attack from both a fire and ice dragon. I swear, watching you get blasted with fire and ice, mauled by a giant's club and crushed by a mammoth tusk all at the same time was just about the coolest thing I've ever seen.
