Skyrim: Still Good?

My biggest problem with Skyrim is that I don't have enough time for it. In between the finals, work and all the other video-games that I want to play (Arkham City, Ass Creed: Rev, Saints Row 3 and Dark Souls), I simply can never have enough time.

There is only one thing that could make this game better. A mudcrab merchant. Srsly I have over 2,000 pounds of shit waiting to be sold.

Too bad the moment you actually managed to sell some of the higher-level stuff you had, you didn't need anymore money, seeing as you could buy EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE.

I generally consider something to be worth it if I get at least £1 to 1 hour's worth of enjoyment out of it.

Skyrim has gone above and beyond the call of duty (pun fully intended).

im confused by this question. are you saying that you assumed the only reason skyrim got good reviews was because it came out? game reviewers may not be known for their limitless integrity, but if a game is scored as highly as skyrim, chances are the high score is because its a good game, not because it was simply released. duke nukem had a lot of hype but the game wasnt exactly overwhelmed with praise, once it was finally released

I'm still having a great time after 110 hours, haven't done much of the main quest or even touched several of the guild quests yet. Overall the game exceeded my high expectations.

Get witcher 2 before skyrim. Its an amazing game and recently got a nice update from the devs. Free DLC and no drm. Support Cd projekt!

Ive played both. Skyrim is a great game, but there are other great games out there that dont have nearly the amount of bugs that skyrim exhibits.

I think it's a strange comparison, TW2 was a polished but short, linear RPG with an uncustomizable main character. It's more similar to bioware games, IMO, with an emphasis on story and tight scripted sequences. TW2 is a good PC exclusive, I just put it in a totally different category than Skyrim since the latter is more about freedom and customized adventures.

Ok, so we all know when Skyrim was released the gaming community collectively came in its pants (some more than others) but couldn?t that have just been a reaction to the game finally coming out? Now that a few weeks have passed and you have most likely completed at least the main story quest, is there that much left to explore? Was it really worth the 60 USD (or however much you paid for it)? now that you have the benefit of a few weeks between release and now, would you still recommend this game?

Well, you have to understand that when a game isn't worthwhile the backlash is almost instantaneous. Skyrim is an example of a genuinely good game getting the general reaction it deserves with few actual, vocal haters (though there are exceptions to everything). It's the kind of game that even people who are done with it are going to look back on it fondly.

What's more not everyone can play it constantly (I am not even close to done with it, though Old Republic Online might keep me away from it for a while), and there is still apparently a plan to release a bunch of DLC which is likely to extend the gameplay for a lot of people even more.

There are some who still swear by Morrowind; Oblivion and Skyrim only improved on Morrowind's award-winning formula, so yes, Skyrim still is, and will be, good.

Got it on the release day and played it non-stop for the week. Admitedly I haven't played it for a while now but I imagine it will be the same as Oblivion, Morrowind and Fallout 3 in that in a few months (probably after the mod kit comes out) I'll pick it up again and not stop playing for months.

Definitely but I take it slow, a few hours of playtime at a time. Sometimes I don't even play it during a day. A very slow relaxed way of enjoying the game

Skyrim best $7 I ever spent. I would have payed $60 for this gem. I have 4 characters and am going to end up with 100s of hours into this thing. Very few games get me to play more than 20 hours even fewer get past 40.

I paid $120 for it (Australia). I've gotten 100 hours of Gameplay out of it. I stopped playing for a little while, until I read a post that reminded me of why I played it in the first place. Towards 60 hours and above, I'd been playing more quests and quests because the stories were interesting. Then I'd gotten bored because the quests no longer interested me. And I read someone saying that if you're playing it to level, or to quest, you're doing it wrong.

I read them saying that you shouldn't Fast Travel when you have a quest (I still do thought), because Questing isn't about just going somewhere, doing it and coming back. It's about exploring. It's about going through the Dungeons you find on the way. I started just exploring random dungeons I'd ignored earlier and found it much more fun. Didn't hurt that I found the difficulty setting and pushed it to Master.

But yes, once I remembered I was playing for the exploration, not for the quests, I found out there was so much more fun. And frankly, any game or book or movie or anything where I'm having fun for $3 per hour (Australia, movies are $20, games are $100) of how much I payed is more than worth it. And right now I'm almost at a 1:1 ratio of payment to game play hours. So more than worth it

I make it a point to play this game atleast once a day. And I have done so since it came out. Every day I get surprised by this game. It's the best game in it's genre, no doubt about that. Was it worth the money? Abso-fucking-lutely, and I would pay twice if I had to.

Sometimes the game has surprised me even without doing ANYTHING. I was walking through Whiterun on my way to the smithy when suddenly everything came together, the music, the town, the smoke from the chimney, everything felt beautiful. I just stood there and listened to the theme, and I thought: "I will NEVER stop playing this game."

It's not without it's flaws of course, there are some things I would change, like how you level too quickly for the game's pace. I like to do most quests before I move on to another hold, I guess it's one of those quirks WoW gave me. But if I do that I end up being level 15-ish before leaving Whiterun hold...

Oh, and the main story is a wee bit dissapointing. I would have thought they'd have fleshed it out more but, no.

Now addmittedly, I have been putting off playing it for a week now, but that's not because of the game. That's because I like every single one of the different combat styles. So much so, infact, that I can't decide which one to use. So right now I'm thinking of restarting and going about it in a different way. But you know what? It doesn't matter in the long run. I will have time to try everything out. Skyrim is timeless.

Apart from the first Story mission where you get the dragon. I've done two more. The one from the Greybeards, and one where you run around with Delphine.
Aside from that, I've been playing the game every day and I haven't done one more story mission.

I played the Dark Brotherhood sidequest, and afterwards it felt like I had finished an entire game.
And that's just a freaking sidequest!


This game is worth far more than just $60.

Without a doubt, I have been playing it pretty much nonstop and have enjoyed every second. Likely to enjoy it for a long time to come as well. I mean, was playing Oblivion up until Skyrim came out. Will most likely be playing Skyrim until the next one comes out.

Yep. I finished the main story quest with doing roughly 20 hours of random things that caught my attention, and I was on my next character just the following weekend. A bit of a different build, and I went to be friends with the Empire because the Stormcloak insight didn't quite fulfill me, in fact I started hating on everyone because of it. Still, it was a great trip, and I'm loving it even more the second time around, where my guesses and decisions are... just a wee bit more educated. It's still a joy to watch.

But I have to admit that during my second playthrough, I've finally encountered all those crashes and freezes and other more debilitating bugs that oddly just didn't happen the first time around.

If you go to Saarthal on the Mages quest, don't bring your follower. Just sayin'.

I have now played the game since it came out. I've basically completed it. My Breton has done every single quest line possible. and actually reduced my "miscellaneous" to around 3 markers (bugs that won't go away)

And I'll admit, it got boring, I had nothing else to do. but before you murder me, know that I started a new game.
"I got bored with Skyrim, then I made an Orc, and it was k." (Sorry I had to make that joke.)

There is only so much one can do with ONE character. But there is such an insane amount of things you can do within Skyrim. I'll still recommend it.

It's a good game. After close to 90ish hours, my first character (battlemage-ish character) is getting a little stale, so I'm trying to blaze through the rest of the MQ so I can start my Legionnaire-Companion-Thief-Assassin character.
