I just got Skyrim for PC during the Steam Sale (Legendary Edition, if it matters). I am trying to put in a texture mod and it isn't working. It still loads the base texture. I've tried a lot of different fixes, and fidgeted with the Skyrim.ini file a bit but to no avail.

Can anyone help me sort this issue out?

Sounds like you need to check out archive invalidation. I don't know the manual way to do it, but any mod manager program on skyrim nexus should have an archive invalidation button.

Isn't that where you modify the items under the [archive] thing in the Skyrim.ini file?

Did you install it in the correct folder? C:/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/Data ?

Probably. Do you have Nexus Mod Manager?

Probably. Did you activate the mod?

Probably. Did you activate the .esp? (Under the 'plugins' tab of Nexus Mod Manager).

Probably. Last alternative: Does the mod need extra software like SKSE or ScriptDragon? I bet you anything it doesn't need those softwares, but otherwise I don't know the problem.

Dunno. But I do load my own custom textures/meshes to various bethesda games from time to time and archive invalidation is one of those things you have to fenagle to get new textures to load sometimes.

If you download this:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/modmanager//?

It will detect your bethesda games and then you just want to click the wrench/screwdriver icon for tools and remove archive invalidation and then reapply it.

I am having another issue though, a lot of sprites (like those for magic spells) are MIA. Any clues?
