Really? Jesus. I wandered into a few higher level areas and got completely PWND...

Yesterday I stumbled into a cave full of Gollum like creatures and clicking insects and barely came out alive after using every health potion in my inventory.

And I loved it.

I unfortunately saw 15x backstab bonus from daggers in the stealth tree and I was like hell yea!....and then I realized daggers are pretty much the worst weapon in the game and now I'm actually debating whether or not I should restart the game with a proper combat character.
I'm a dual-wielding character with a sword/axe in my offhand, and a dagger in my main. Zero magic. I recently got the 15x back-stab perk, and it...is...DEVASTATING. Right now I've just got a Dwarven dagger, but man...I'm one-shotting everything with it. I ran into two bandits that lit me up. Loaded my game, snuck behind them: Stab. Stab. Over. Was worth the wait and work to get it, hands down.

Um, what the hell?

I'm playing on expert, and was positively obliterated by the falmer. The Silver hands weren't easy either.
When you use two-handed weapons you're supposed to be able to one-hit kill regular people though. That's their schtick.

So I've played the game for about ten hours now, finished the Companions questline and most of the main quests. I've been playing on Master difficulty since the start and I can pretty much one shot all common enemies. The only enemies that are challenging are Chauruses because of the poison and dragons since you have to shoot them down.. So anyway, anyone else think Skyrim is too easy even on the hardest difficulty?

If anyone wants to know, I play a level 14 two handed nord, who uses Wuuthrad/Skyforged Greatswords.
Thanks to the lack of level scaling all standard enemies are easily outclassed and most quests don't make you fight too hard enemies so you can progress without trouble but the rare boss enemies that are just hidden waiting to be found are where it's at.

If you ignore quests and go hunting for the more hidden isolated places you will find enemies that can tear you into pieces instantly.

Have you fought a lich called Krosis yet? Fuck me that was a ridiculous fight and there are I think 2 more special lich creatures like him I have yet to find.

How did you not know you're playing on Master? You start as "Adept" and you have to manually change it (well, at least on PS3 so I'm assuming here). Did you change it and then forgot that you have done so?

I've level up now a little and the game is fine. It's not too easy nor too difficult. I'm not foolish enough to try playing it on Master though. I favour bows and sneaking, but I'll leave the giants be for now :)
My difficulty was automatically set on Master. I think that it might check for previous achievements or saves or something. I have full gamerscore in Oblivion and Fallout 3+NV so maybe it checks them or something.
Cool, thanks! Clears things up a bit :)

I'm playing as a pseudo-stealth Argonian (archery, sneak, light armor, single dagger, restoration), and I find the difficulty varies wildly. While I could easily dispatch wolves and bandits even at level 1, I got my ass handed to me multiple times when I tackled Bleak Falls Barrow. I finally got through by the skin of my teeth using the "hit once, run like hell and heal" strategy. My first dragon battle was pretty intense as well. I blew through most of my healing potions in order to recover from its flames.

In short, I find the difficulty to be much like Morrowind, which is fine by me.

Falmer and Chauruses?

If so...then don't poke around Dwarven ruins! D'<

This game as level scaling. It's more like Fallout 3's level scaling in that 'boss' versions of enemies become normal enemies after you level up some (Going into any Nord Crypt at my level causes me to get mobbed by a bunch of Restless and Wright class zombies with the occasional Scourge thrown in there. Had a Dreadlord once...was not pretty.

Krosis...did he drop a mask that looks like the masks shown on the statue that shows up with the tooltip about Labyrinthian? (Hard to explain) If so, then I've killed one of those. His name was Morokei...I needed 92% resistance to the damage he dealt just to survive.

fight a dragon single handed, no problem. Kill a frost Troll NO WAY! i got killed by the frost troll going up the 7000 steps to the Grey beards more then any dragon in the game so far.
I know the feeling, the best way I have found is have about 15 healing potions a bow and you sword of choice. Shoot him as soon he appears when he gets close use your dragon shout, switch to melee, win the war of attrition.

I can't really relate too much, but so far, I'm a level 10 and 1/2 spellwarrior(a spell in one hand, a sord in the other) and I've been playing for approx. 8 hours, and the game is a little bit unbalanced, for eg:
-Giants always insta-kill you
-Mammoths and dragons always, always kill you just as you've removed half of their health bar.
-Flame, Frostbite and shock are all s***, unless you invest in the augmented perks.
-Rockjoint is very hard to cure, as I can't find any temples near the wizard's college.
-Armor doesn't count for S***.
(On Adept difficulty, on very rare occassions, I had to turn on God Mode because I was sick of dying all the time)

I have both 25% damage upgrades. Flame, Frostbite, and Shock are still shit after like...level 5. I'm up to Adept level spells right now (Which I can toss around like candy), but those aren't doing the job anymore either. Still need like 13 more Destruction levels to advance to Expert level spells, though...

Why must Destruction level so slowly? I literally gain a level in Illusion every time I cast Muffle...

Edit: I do one shot everything that isn't in a quest dungeon/boss, though. Actually, I managed to kill one boss before the boss area finished with it's 'setting up' animation.

Edit 2: Town Guards have the second highest stats of ANYTHING I've fought so far. That includes DRAGONS. The highest stat award goes to Morokei.

He is by far the hardest thing I've had to fight(Level 7), but the mask is pretty sweet once you beat him(for mages)

The 15x dagger damage is insanely good.

I was doing a quest for the alchemist in the white vial, I entered a chamber.. epic music starts playing and coffins open around me.. I am in stealth and I sneak around and jab my dagger into each undead aroun the chamber without being seen, one hitting them. Then I sneak up to the main coffin in the center, the named much more powerful undead begins rising.. power attack daggers in stealth unseen and he just lies back down re-dead.

That perk is death incarnate.

I know how you feel :(
The thing is, I still have the mage stone activated(near helgen), and it still takes stupidly long to level up destruction.

I'm not sure how you can be "one shotting" enemies on master when I'm level 14 on adept with 73 archery totally perked and a Fine Elven Bow and I can't one shot certain bandits, even with sneak shots.

Playing a high elf battlemage on Adept difficulty, the game is still bloody hard sometimes. But I think that's just because I havent found any good maces or destruction spells yet.

Also, it seems like noone is doing the College of Winterhold quests, mages dont seem to be that popular on the Escapist. My character is an Altmer who wields an mace/sword in one hand and a destruction or restoration spell in the other.

[EDIT] Also, try fighting two giants and three mammoths at the same time when you have only just started. I was travelling to Whiterun and I came across the bastards and they just all ganged up on me and killed me in one hit.

I got to level 58 before realizing that I didn't have the Mage stone activated. (I died right after I activated it, but forgot to go back and do it again)

Also, I was stuck at level 59 FOREVER until I got a tooltip that said 'Progress towards your next skill degrades if you serve your sentence in prison.' Which sucked, because I was doing alot of that. (Dark Brotherhood quest chain)

Now I just say 'I'd rather die than go to prison!' and flee on my demon horse. Town Guards are freakin' persistent, though. I've had a group of five of them chase me halfway across Skyrim before they got ambushed by a Dragon...

Edit: And now I've heard that you can potentially get up to 5000% damage on swords. Also this:

You can safely just hit the normal attack, I saw somewhere that the damage multipliers don't stack from sneak attack and power attack.

However, there are some gloves in the game that double your sneak attack multiplier. 30x with daggers makes pretty much everything instantly dead.

I remember that I was previously defiled in Skyrim when I was on the 7000 steps, it took quite a lot of retires just that I could kill the dragon, and I nearly thought oof giving up when the snow troll appeared(I was around level 7/8 then). Seriously, Adept difficulty is like Hardened difficulty in CoD.
