Hi, I've not got Skyrim yet. Well not on me anyway. I've asked for it as a Christmas gift because I couldn't afford the game when it released and I'd rather not wreck my university studies with a massive RPG distracting me. So Christmas break seems like a great time to play it.

However, I'm getting the PS3 version. This is because I don't own a 360 (anymore) or a laptop/PC that could handle it. Trust me, if I could get it on PC, I would. I'd rather be able to play with mods and stuff. Alas, I can't. So my only option is the PS3.

But I've heard that the game is broken on the PS3. Is there anything I should look out for/avoid doing? Any settings I should change to make it easier to run?

Doesn't matter what you do. Right now, if you play up to about 50 or so hours, the game will start stuttering, and just get worse from there.

Bethesda says they're working on it. But yeah, only way to avoid it is to not play a save for more than 50 hours.

Ummm well as a person with the PS3 version Id say don't worry. Patch 1.2 made the game a lot more playable and a lot less laggy. Right now it seems to be pretty stable when held up to the PC version which I heard the patch basically broke and 1.3 didn't seem to help it. Idk about 1.3 on PS3 because I don't really even care for the game any more. Yet it runs pretty good once updated to 1.2, that I can confirm.

I'm on PS3, and it's been alright so far (~80 hours). I'm not saying that everyone's experiences are the same, but I thought I'd let you know that not everyone's game has been wrecked by horrific lag.

Although as I only got my PS3 a couple months back, and only have 3 game for it, that might mean something.

For me, once my savegames got over 10Mb, things started to get bad. If I play for longer than an hour or 2, the game becomes almost unplayable because of lag. The patch didn't help at all. If anything, it made it worse with fatal crashes I didn't have before.

Still, it's a great game, and I just force myself through it. I save every hour and reload once it gets too bad. I'm about 150 hours in and the lag doesn't stop me playing.

The problem with the PS3 version is essentially 'the more you do, the slower it goes'.

So if you have a compact save file, don;t visit many areas, only do certain quests, then sure you can play 80 hours and still run fine. If you're like my friend Joe, who ran acrorss every part of the map and into every dungeon, started every quest and hoards items, well he started encountering lag after about 50 hours, and has said it's becoming unplayable at 80.

I really think you should get it and play it regardless of the issues..

I have it on PC, but I moved my PC to a friend who has it on PS3, so we sat and played together for a couple of days.. And yes, it is as everyone else here say, it gets really laggy after you've played a while.

His PS3 is pretty old (I think he said he bought it when it was released), so a newer one would probably run it better. Even though it lagged, he was still able to play it well. He just shut down the PS3 and rebooted every time it started lagging.. A bit annoying to do this every hour or so, but meh..

So, as I said, I still think you should buy it, it's AMAZING!!!
