Hi all, it's early but I was reading some of the articles on Skryrim, catching up on stuff I missed, and I saw they were going to have books in it again - like, 300 of them.

Now, I may be the only crazy lady here, but does anyone else really hope that they make it so that you can organize your books in your houses? I was a collector in Oblivion, but all my beautiful volumes ended up in horrid, messy piles scattered around by my walking through a room or knocked down by my damn maid who never lifted a bloody finger to put them up nicely in the empty shelves. The hours spent trying to angle books in that jiggly-grab-stuff-mode just make me want to cry. Little dramatic, but there it is.

So... any chance they did? Or does anyone else hope they did? ...or am I the only crazy person here this morning?

... Well... I... Err... No?

Nah, rearrangeable bookshelves would be awesome. It will be the little touches like that that would make Skyrim incredible.

EDIT: My what terrible grammar. Try again Oliver.

The little touches such as rearrangeable bookshelves would make the game incredible, as opposed to just amazing.

I never collected the books in oblivion but I loved reading them so it's fun to hear that they are doing that again.

Would be awesome for them to make it easier to rearrange your house rather than the horrible z key of yore. The Havok engine can be pretty hilarious at times. I picked up a silver dish off someones table for my theives guild total and EVERYTHING in the room just flew around like a lolnado. It was like some scary poltergeist really liked his dish. :<

oh god yes, I always liked my house to look nice. Believe me, no matter how tiny the problem was, if you could even call it a problem, it annoyed me to no end when things wouldn't stand up straight, or I knocked things over. Call me crazy, whatever it was sort of an obsession :D

I would like a little Sims style house design feature where you could move and place objects in-game, but I doubt that's in there.

well I didn't hope that exactly but I did hope for better ways to arrange things in houses, which is basically the same on a broader scale...does that count?

I hope I can arrange ANYTHING in my house. I mean, do you know how a nightmare it was to arrange my daedric artifacts? I had to put everything in vitrines so that they wouldn't take off when they felt I was near.

a few good mods about for organizing books in oblivion but only if you used pc, and im glad they brought books back (though its not a massive deal because they have had it in some form or another in all elder scrolls games, havent they?)

Oh thank goodness I'm not alone! /joy.

Seriously though, I just find it very satisfying to have a nice place, a retreat if you will, for doing all that heavy-hero-lifting for the greater good. Somewhere I can display my trophy items and keep my nice 1st editions, you know?

I like that more and more games are doing that (even Shepard gets a collection of miniature ships in a nice case in ME2) and it can range from subtle to full-blown sim style house decorating, but what bothered me about Oblivion was that it was just shy of actually working. I could put things in the cases provided in the nicer houses, but if I placed them wrong there'd be a perpetual rattling noise or something. I could get about 3 books on a shelf before putting 1 more in disarranged all the ones placed previously on ALL the nearby shelves... things like that. I'd love to see a remedy for that in Skyrim.

The books being back is great, but I really hope that they aren't in piles around the place all over again.

I don't know about this, I was kind of a fan of just dumping all my loot in the corner of my house. While I never pulled it off in Oblivion, my intent will be to fill my Skyrim house full of items in the most messy way possible, thus creating my very own version of The Elder Scrolls: Hoarders.

I feel your pain - I also spent hours on end trying to get that last book into the shelf - only to scream in frustration when it feel out again at the last moment.

Edit: That's why I always saved before I attempted to move anything in the house even on centimeter.

Here's to hoping they make it easier to move objects around in Skyrim!

Re-arrangeble furniture, weapon stands, some xotic weaponry(i mean beating a dragon to death with nunchuucks, katanas or some other crazy weapons would be rather fun in my opinion) and last the ability to use ranged weapons while mounted... Oh yeah and LOTS of books! Thats what i want

Mods will take care of everything the initial release doesn't. But if you're a console gamer then tough luck.

I would settle for them magically arranging themselves as a function of a servant or hell hand-wave no-reason it's magic. Just so they look like nice and stuff.

Apparently they are letting players have the ability to customize their lair instead of buying preset ones, don't know if that's true but its something they have looked in to.

I read almost every book in Oblivion because i thought the lore is amazing, and is one reason why I will read most of them in Skyrim. I've always played as a Nord female and will finally be able to play in the homeland of my character.

My friend once saved for an age to buy the house in skingrad with all the fancy furniture to, and then found every rare book he could and MANUALLY replaced every book on every bookshelf with the expensive ones that he'd travelled everywhere to get. It doesn't end there either, he collected (almost) every series of books and placed them on his shelves as well, all the volumes in order.

He did that using an unmodded Oblivion using analogue sticks. It's no small wonder that he took to minecraft so quickly I guess.

I personally found it very fun to hunt vampires and other exotic animals and collect their droppings (that sounds weirder than I intended it to).

I realllly hope they have a ton of new books to read. It gets really old and tired when you break into houses and see the same 10 to 20 books everywhere.

Also I hope the new books will have new content instead of the same (and very creepy) story of 'hot young elf chick' shacks up with very very very old man and has babies...or something...really those ones just made my skin crawl. o_O

It always made me feel bad for male Dunmer. >_<

Instead of being knocked down by your maid, now they get torched by Dragons. Enjoy!

I gave up trying to organize my books with the grab function. Went out to get my mysticism skill high enough to use telekentics, then sunk tons of mana and potions into organizing it all. Looks quite nice now actually.
As for the books in Skyrim, I'd be happy if they made the shelves in the houses bigger so you could fit them in. And its not 300 books. It's OVER 300 books. I'm just anxious about the quality of the books. I hope they're at least as good as the last game. I remember I read the entire series of 'The Real Barenziah'(spelled that wrong but whatever) Such a great series.
