Skyrim's Thieves Guild Quest Bug

Hello everyone. Recently I've picked up Skyrim again (for the PC) and started the Thieves Guild questline. Now early in the questline I encountered a common bug in which Brynjolf just stands still and keeps repeating "mmm?" every time I try to interact with him.
So I used this fix I found on the Elder Scrolls Wiki:

(1. open the command console.
2. type , this will skip the loud and clear quest and start the dampening spirits quest, but everyone in the guild will still attack the dragonborn.
3. type <player.addfac 29da9 1> this will make the dragonborn a member of the thieves guild.)

I advanced in the storyline and everything was all well and good. When decided to do a few of the radiant quests that Vex and Delvin give out, I encountered yet another bug. Neither Vex nor Delvin have any conversation options besides the skill training ones, same goes for pretty much everyone else in the thieves guild.

I've looked pretty much everywhere and can't find any solutions, I disabled the around 10 mods I was using but nothing changed.

Console commands can be a pain in the arse for screwing up quests.

The problem with the way they recommended it is that it requires you skipping the part where they allow you to join naturally. It's better to skip the immediate step that is bugged, rather than an entire quest.

Do you have a save before you did this? If you do, I think I may know a way of fixing it.

What part specifically is he not talking to you?

Well, as I said there should be more dialogue options like "got any jobs?" and the like, but the only option he has is: "Can you train me to sneak?".

I've decided to get the latest update and see if it fixes anything.

*UPDATE*

Nope, updating did nothing.

I meant if you have any saves before you did the console commands. I am not sure of any way to fix it after you have done them.

Well I do, but if I used an older save I'd lose at least 10 levels of progress.

If it is only the levels you are concerned about losing then if my idea works it'd be easy enough to regain those levels through console commands.

I still need to know what part of the quest you were at before getting stuck and tried using commands... As I have said before, I cannot help or even attempt to, without knowing the specific part of the quest you got the bug.

It's the Taking Care of Business Quest, when you need to follow Brynjolf into The Ragged Flagon Cistern, at which point he won't move further into the cistern and simply stand around.

So am I correct in assuming that you have collected the debts from the three people? Is it a case of you have returned to him with those debts, he has spoken to you, then doesn't move?

Or a case of he simply doesn't acknowledge you once you have them?

I was looking up the commands to do this, and I came across this answer in one of the unofficial wikis:

The Brynjolf "hmmmmm" bug (PC).
If either during or after A Chance Arrangement or Taking Care of Business you get the Brynjolf "hmmmmm" bug (where all Brynjolf says is hmmmmm when you try interact with him) do the following:

Hit tilde for the console command menu
Type: setstage TG02 10
Then hit enter.

This will complete quest 2 so you will now have to open a missed trap door to proceed with the main quest.

Now hit tilde again.
Then type: player.moveto 49523
Then hit enter.

This will take you to the Ragged Flagon Cistern; the Thieves Guild hide out. Find the passage way with the ladder at the end and open to a pull chain. This will open the trap door. Proceed from here to the market and talk to Brynjolf and begin quest 3.

Assuming that works for you, getting your levels back is easy with commands. You just need to write down what each level for each skill is, and then bring up the console commands once you have fixed the quest.

Type: advskill [skillname] [number to increase by]
Example: advskill lightarmor 200

The amount of points needed to go up levels varies greatly between skills, so it's best to save in between each skill you increase, and start with fairly low numbers, so you don't go over what you need. If you go up in small amounts, you can get yourself to the exact same level you reached legitimately.

Some of the skills have strange names, but most are fairly simple. They are all done as one word, like the example above. Archery is called marksman, and speech is called speechcraft, I think all the rest have the same names as they do in the menu.

I hope it works.

What do you mean by missed trap door? The solution doesn't work for me, although I am having the same problem.
