I dont need a Tomb Raider 2531.. amaze me! Even if its an abomination like Supreme Commander 2 (which I liked since it was a completely fresh approach to RTS).
How was it a fresh approach when the main reason it was terrible was because it took concepts from other RTS and incorporated them into the final product? I mean, set, physical resources, the standard upgrade system, and limited unit types are all concepts common in other RTS, but not the original Supreme Commander. The only 'fresh' approach they did was by attempting to design the game for both PC and Xbox 360 at the same time, which actually resulted in a lot of the bad design choices.

The story telling and game design "straight" from an JRPG was new! :) (which is what I am mainly refering to, it made the whole thing fresh) No, really it felt more like a JRPG than an RTS at times :|

All they need to do for my love is to make pro perks not reset on prestige and to actually give me a selection of weapons that are actually interesting/ useful. I don't need a small selection of guns like in BOPs and an even smaller selection of guns that can actually hold their own in a firefight.

Wow. I bet Treyarch set out for a much more mediocre goal with Black Ops. Honestly, shouldn't EVERY developer be looking to make the best game possible?

But more realistically, if they simply bring out the same-old, same-old, then they'll still sell a ton of copies, but if they want something interesting and unique, they need something that's similar to what's familiar, but still different.

Why not multiplayer variations on the tactical combat of MW2 Special Ops? A squad of four, one in an AC130, versus eight randomly respawning enemies that are trying to stop them from reaching their goal. Two stealth soldiers are trying to reach a specific target, but the defenders don't know where that target is, and don't know where the stealth soldiers begin.

Just a little thought could make Call of Duty more than a simple killstreak-fest.

I'd only be interested if it would turn out like a REAL co-operative game play, where squads means more than "everyone be the gunman and scatter" which is such a really fucking likely scenario for every FPS so far.

Sledgehammer now?

Wow, CoD gets around a bit...
Yeah, it's the Video Game franchise bicycle...
I loled

I hope sledgehammer do well and bring something new to a franchise that hasn't been interesting to me since 2007 yet still releasing 3 games since then.

I did like Nazi Zombies but that was more of a mini game and still wasn't that interesting.

I second this.

But that's the thing, whenever games have a large weapon set they still only have a few guns that are worth using. In a class based shooter like CoD that is more harmful from a depth perspective than in a game like Halo.

Wait so are they working under Activision on the actual CoD or is this their own "modern shooter" attempt?
Or are they the replacement for Infinity Ward?

Anyway I wish them the best of luck, but there was no shortage of such ambitious companies going "oh I can do that better", and most of them go down quick when reality strikes, just hope these guys keep that in mind.

Kudos to Sledgehammer Games, for wanting to improve the franchise they're stepping into, rather then treating the franchise as a train they can simply ride to the bank.

I could go for them hypothetically exploring what the first type of military operations in space would be. But they start going for multiple colonies across solar systems and even aliens then that's Halo's territory. They'd be in for a world of hurt.

Give em a shot. It's never too late to try something different.
